A Director has been Found for “Sherlock Holmes 3”

Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. in "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows"

Remember that time Robert Downey Jr. played Sherlock Holmes?

The Avengers: Endgame actor starred as the famous detective in Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.

With the second film having been released way back in 2011, you’d be forgiven for forgetting that Downey Jr. ever donned a deerstalker.

The good news, however, is that the third film in the series seems to be back on track!

Warner Bros. had originally intended to release Sherlock Holmes 3 in December 2020, but then delayed the movie until Christmas Day 2021.

Part of the reason was the absence of a director, with Guy Ritchie, who helmed the first two, not doing so for the third.

Ritchie’s replacement has now been announced as Rocketman director Dexter Fletcher.

While plot details have not been revealed, Jude Law, who plays Dr. Watson, has indicated that it will focus on his and Sherlock’s relationship after having not seen each other in as long as we haven’t.
