If you thought the zombies were defeated — you were wrong.
Sony Pictures has officially announced that a sequel to Zombieland is coming our way.
The original was released in 2009 and starred Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, and Abigail Breslin, all of whom will be reprising their roles in the sequel.
They will also once again be directed by Ruben Fleischer who helmed the first film.
“This is one of those projects that fans have wanted to see happen for a long time – and no one wanted to see it happen more than Emma, Woody, Jesse, and Abigail,” said President of Columbia Pictures, Sanford Panitch. “These are some of the most in-demand actors and I think they are making this movie because they love these characters. We are thrilled Ruben was willing to come back to direct the sequel, as his work on Venom has been truly amazing.”
Zombieland 2 will begin production in January and is set for an October 2019 release date — 10 years after the original.
The quartet is expected to face off against many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie.
