NBC has renewed Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist for a second season.

The series is about computer coder Zoey Clarke (Jane Levy) who lives in San Francisco. After an unusual event, she starts to hear the thoughts and desires of those around her through popular songs. She first thinks she’s going crazy, but after receiving advice from her musically adept neighbor, Mo (Alex Newell), and making a breakthrough with her ailing father (Peter Gallagher), she realizes that it’s an incredible gift that connects her to the world.

The series also stars Skylar Astin, John Clarence Stewart, Mary Steenburgen, and Lauren Graham. Austin Winsberg served as writer and executive producer. Kim Tannenbaum, Eric Tannenbaum, Paul Feig, David Blackman, Daniel Inkeles, and Sam Laybourne executive produce.

“We were overwhelmed by the number of people who fell in love with Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist and how much joy it brought to everyone,” said Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, co-presidents of scripted programming for NBC Entertainment. “We’re thrilled to bring it back and can’t wait to see how Zoey’s journey continues.”

News of the renewal comes just a few days after NBC cancelled Perfect Harmony and Lincoln Rhyme: Hunt for the Bone Collector.
