Viola Davis has been cast in Showtime’s forthcoming anthology series First Ladies.

The How to Get Away With Murder is going to the White House. Davis has been tapped to portray former First Lady Michelle Obama.

The drama will give viewers insight into the personal and political lives of first ladies throughout history. The first season will focus on Obama, Eleanor Roosevelt and Betty Ford.

“In the East Wing of the White House, many of history’s most impactful and world changing decisions have been hidden from view, made by America’s charismatic, complex and dynamic First Ladies,” the logline says.

Davis took to Twitter, writing, “Proud to spotlight these brave, extraordinary women.”

Aaron Cooley will write the scripts and serve as executive producer alongside Davis.

Casting for the roles of Roosevelt and Ford has yet to be announced.
