Anyone who follows British politics know that Margaret Thatcher was a very tough lady.

So it’s only right that a formidable actress takes on the role of the former British Prime Minister.

With The Crown undergoing a time-leap for its forthcoming third season, the Netflix series will find itself amidst the reign of the Iron Lady.

It has now been confirmed that the The Fall actress, Gillian Anderson, will play the late stateswoman.

During her tenure, Thatcher had a fraught relationship with Queen Elizabeth II who was portrayed by Claire Foy in seasons one and two of the Netflix series, but will now be taken over by The Night Manager actress, Olivia Colman, going forth.

Olivia is joined by Outlander star, Tobias Menzies, and Helena Bonham Carter of Les Misérables who will take over as Prince Philip and Princess Margaret, respectively.

Queen Elizabeth will receive some respite as Gillian is only due to assume her role in season 4 of The Crown.

The Queen is expected to return to her throne later this year.
