Taika Waititi might soon be working with some more stormtroopers.

The Thor: Ragnarok director helmed the season finale of The Mandalorian and is now reportedly in talks to develop the next Star Wars movie.

December’s The Rise of Skywalker, which grossed over $1 billion worldwide, wrapped up the Skywalker saga that lasted 9 films. The new saga is set to begin in 2022.

Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss were originally announced as the ones to lead the next Star Wars installment, but in August last year they changed their minds and pulled out, citing their $200 million deal with Netflix as filling up their schedule.

It now appears as though Waititi is in negotiations for the role with LucasFilm and Disney.

For what it’s worth, the New Zealander, whose film Jojo Rabbit just earned 6 Oscar nominations, is remaining mum. He posted Fleetwood Mac’s cover for their album Rumours on Twitter.
