Hulu is totally vying for our favorite streaming service award.

Not only did the network decide to revive Veronica Mars by giving us a fourth season starring the super sleuth — they also decided to release it early!

That’s right, Marshmallows. The Veronica Mars miniseries was only due to drop on July 26th, but Hulu decided to gift it to us on July 19th.

The eight-episode series takes us back to Neptune, where Ms. Mars (who is no longer a teen) must solve a mystery in her hometown after a serial killer appears to be targeting spring breakers.

While there, she falls back into the trap of old relationships (hey, Logan), and we also get to see a lot of familiar faces like Enrico Colantoni, Jason Dohring, David Starzyk, Max Greenfield, and Ken Marino.

J.K. Simmons, Patton Oswald, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, and Dawnn Lewis form part of the new cast.

The fourth season of Veronica Mars is available to stream now.

It’s just over a month to go until our favorite (former teenager) super sleuth is back on our screens!

A Veronica Mars revival has been hoped for for many years, and no one was more behind it than creator Rob Marsh and the lead actress herself, Kristen Bell.

So, with July 26th approaching, what can we expect from the eight-part miniseries?

“This will be a controversial season. Let me just say that,” Kristen teased. “I am excited for people to watch, and I am also probably going to stay off the internet once it airs. There’s some stuff that happens that people will have strong feelings about…”

The series will focus on Veronica trying to catch a serial killer who is targeting spring break students trying to catch some sun in Neptune.

“It’s different when she’s an adult,” the actress said of her character, who is no longer a high school student. “The world is bigger, it’s sort of darker and dirtier, but she still has her moral compass, her sass and her wit. It’s still very much a show about the haves and the have nots and Veronica fighting for the underdog. It made me so happy to do it again.”

Not as happy as we are for July 26th!

Kirsten Bell has confirmed, once and for all, that the high school super sleuth will be returning to our screens!

The Good Place actress last left the town of Neptune in 2007 after three seasons on air.

In August, rumors were rife that Hulu has decided to revive the show and give us 8 more episodes, but we dared not believe until we had the facts.

Well, we think that Kirsten’s latest Instagram post serves as pretty hard evidence!

“This is a very important marshmallow announcement,” she said in the video. “Did you guys know that as of summer 2019, all the old Veronica Mars episodes will be available on Hulu to stream and re-watch, which is great because you’ll need to brush up since we’re making another one.”

Eeek!

The mini-series will have Veronica trying to solve the murder of some spring-breakers in the fictional coastal town.

Marshmallows are ready to report for duty!

Another revival is in the works.

It looks like Veronica Mars is going to make its TV return as sources tell Variety that a revival is in the works at Hulu.

Creator of the show, Rob Thomas is reportedly working out the last details before inking a deal with the streaming service to bring back TV’s beloved detective. The deal includes a limited 8-episode series. According to the outlet, original series star Kristen Bell is set to reprise her role as the titular character. Thomas will also pen the script.

The original followed Mars as she progressed from high school to college. She worked part-time for her detective dad Keith played by Enrico Colantoni, who opened his own private detective agency. It ran for three seasons and aired over 60 episodes.

Jason Dohring, Percy Daggs III, Francis Capra, Ryan Hansen, Teddy Dunn, Michael Muhney, and Tina Majorino. and Amanda Seyfried also starred in the original.

The final episode of TV show Veronica Mars aired in 2007 but that doesn’t stop fans from hoping some kind of revival. With their help, a feature film was released in 2014 and two more books followed, but the full revival never did happen. According to Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas, the revival was recently really close to happening but the plans didn’t come to fruition.

“We thought we were incredibly close not too long ago and a couple of business things got in the way, that neither Kristen nor I could control,” said Thomas while speaking to E! News. “So we’re biding our time, but we have an idea for what we want to do and we’re eager to do. Yeah, we’re both right now in a little bit of heartbreak because we thought we were so close, but that’s Hollywood.”

When asked if there is a future for Veronica Mars, Kristen Bell responded in a positive fashion and promised that she will continue trying to get the show back alongside Thomas.

“In my world, there is (future),” said Bell. “I mean, I’m going to be blunt: It’s tough, for a variety of reasons I can’t get into, but, Rob and I are trying and we will continue to try.”

Bell and Thomas also discussed Veronica Mars revival back in October 2018, saying that they are looking into a possibility of making a mini-series. They said that miniseries could be the best format to move forward, and also said that they won’t make fans pay for it like they did with a Veronica Mars feature film. Thomas wrote the script for the movie following the cancellation of the series after three seasons, but couldn’t get the studio to fund it. He then asked fans for help via Kickstarter and collected the necessary money.
