When Kaley Cuoco had a birthday coming up, the crew of The Big Bang Theory decided to plan a surprise celebration. All was going well… until Jim Parsons, aka Dr. Sheldon Cooper, decided to ruin things.

Much like his annoying — er, we mean “lovable” — character Jim decided to spoil the surprise by taking a picture of Kaley’s birthday cake and posting it on Instagram!

We know what you’re thinking — maybe she didn’t see it.

Except, Jim decided to tag her in the photo, with the caption, “Almost time, @kaleycuoco… shhhhh…”

Some cosmic, parallel universe, crossover science thingy is about to happen and we’re super excited.

The uniqueness that is Dr. Sheldon Cooper could never have been contained in one series, so it seemed only fitting that CBS developed a show about his childhood entitled Young Sheldon.

Starring Iain Armitage as the titular character, the show is now in its sophomore season.

With the final season of The Big Bang Theory underway, it has now been confirmed that the 10-year-old, Lance Barber who plays his mom, and Montana Jordan who plays his brother Georgie, are all set to appear on the show.

It is not yet known how exactly young Sheldon will meet the grown-up version of himself played by Jim Parsons (who also narrates the spin-off), but we will find out come December.

Time-travel, anyone?

No one is as upset about The Big Bang Theory ending as Jim Parson — despite what the media may say.

It was announced on Wednesday that, after 12 years on the air, the scientific comedy would be coming to a conclusion following its forthcoming season.

A report by Entertainment Weekly had alleged that Jim, who plays the incorrigible yet lovable Dr. Sheldon Cooper, was responsible for the series ending as CBS and Warner Bros. Television were looking to pick up the show for two additional seasons before he chose to walk away.

In response, the 45-year-old posted a message on Instagram which conveyed his heartbreak over Big Bang embarking on its final season:

“It is hard (nearly impossible, actually) to really accept that this is a picture of the first of the final 24 episodes we will shoot for The Big Bang Theory,” he wrote in the post which thanked the show’s fans, crew, cast members, and writers. “I feel very fortunate that we have another 23 episodes to shoot this season because I am hopeful that with each and every one, my level of REALLY accepting this fact will sink in.”

Sounds like a good hypothesis.

The 12th season of CBS’ The Big Bang Theory will be its last.

CBS, Warner Bros. TV and Chuck Lorre Productions announced the news in a joint statement.

“We are forever grateful to our fans for their support of The Big Bang Theory during the past twelve seasons. We, along with the cast, writers, and crew, are extremely appreciative of the show’s success and aim to deliver a final season, and the series finale, that will bring The Big Bang Theory to an epic creative close.”

EW reports that the series is ending because star Jim Parsons was ready to walk away from the series. And since there is no show without Dr. Sheldon Cooper, the 12th season will mark the end of the longest-running multi-camera series in TV history.

Three weeks after CBS Entertainment head Kelly Kahl said that this isn’t the series’ final year and that they are in “preliminary discussions to renew the show with Warner Bros” he released the following statement:

The Big Bang Theory has been the defining comedy of its generation. All of us at the Network take exceptional pride in this series that uniquely combines creative genius, commercial ratings success, cultural influence and characters who became so popular, they are easily known by just one name. We’re incredibly grateful for our partnership with Warner Bros., Chuck Lorre Productions and a brilliant cast and crew that has made such a ‘big bang’ and lasting legacy on the television landscape.”

Season 12 of The Big Bang Theory will premier Monday, September 24.

It’s a good day to be a fan of Chuck Lorre comedies.

As news of show renewals (and dreaded cancellations) continue to pour in, CBS has decided to give the nod of approval to three shows by creator Chuck Lorre.

The network is currently home to Mom, The Big Bang Theory, and its spin-off, Young Sheldon.

All three are set to return to screens later this year, with Mom — which recently celebrated in 100th episode — coming back for a 6th season; The Big Bang Theory is set to continue making science cool for a 12th year; and Young Sheldon coming back for its second.

The news of Mom being picked up again was made by executive producer, Lorre, during the show’s wrap party.

The trio’s renewal does not come as much of a surprise as they mark CBS’s top 3 comedies amongst both adults aged between 25 and 54, as well as 18 to 49.

Here’s to more Lorre!

If you can’t get enough of Sheldon Cooper, then we have some good news for you. After recently placing a full season order of The Big Bang Theory spin-off Young Sheldon, CBS has now renewed the show for season two as well. The show already made a huge impact, becoming the most watched new sitcom in the last decade on any network, and being currently the most watched comedy TV show after The Big Bang Theory. The pilot episode of Young Sheldon was also the most watched TV show premiere on CBS since 2011, attracting 17.2 million viewers.

“Young Sheldon has made a huge impact on our schedule in the short time it’s been on the air.” said CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl “While the show’s DNA is clearly rooted in The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon has staked out its own place in the TV universe with a unique creative tone, brilliant writing, and a gifted multi-generational cast. We can’t wait to see Chuck, Steve, Jim and Todd’s vision for how the Cooper family deals with Sheldon growing a year older… and smarter.”

Young Sheldon is the prequel to The Big Bang Theory and focuses on 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper growing up in Texas. The show stars Iain Armitage in the titular role, with Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, and Annie Potts joining the cast. Jim Parsons, who portrays Sheldon in The Big Bang Theory, serves as a narrator. Parsons was also the one to come up with the idea of a prequel story for his character, which was then turned into a pilot by Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro. The pilot was directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, The Jungle Book), who also serves as an executive producer.

CBS also renewed The Big Bang Theory for two more season in March 2017 which means that the show will air at least until 2020.
