We’re slowly reaching the final days of this year’s award season, and the SAG Awards set the stage for the Oscars on Saturday night. Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer emerged as the top winner on the film side with three wins, while FX’s The Bear dominated the TV field.

Oppenheimer walked away with the biggest award of the night: the outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture. Its stars Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. came out victorious in their respective fields, bringing the film’s total to three awards

It was also a big night for the acclaimed culinary dramedy The Bear, which collected three trophies. In addition to winning the award for outstanding performance by an ensemble, its stars Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri received individual honors for their roles.

Winners were harder to predict in the drama field, but the final season of Succession still managed to collect the trophy for the outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series. Its cast members, however, failed to win any individual awards, losing to Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) and Elizabeth Debicki (The Crown).

The 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards were live-streamed on Netflix from the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles on February 24.

SAG Awards returned to Los Angeles on Sunday night, and this year’s ceremony was the most historic one yet. Everything Everywhere All At Once was the biggest winner of the night, and it took the record-breaking four trophies home.

Everything Everywhere All At Once was one of the front runners for outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture. It managed to live up to the expectations and it defeated Babylon, The Banshees of Inisherin, The Fabelmans, and Women Talking to win this award.

Its stars Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan made history as the first Asian actors to receive SAG Awards in their respective categories. Jamie Lee Curtis also won a trophy for her supporting performance in this film, pulling one of the night’s biggest upsets.

Things were much tamer on the television side, and most of the awards went to the clear front-runners. The White Lotus was the night’s biggest winner with two accolades, including outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series. Abbott Elementary dominated the comedy field and picked up the award for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series.

The 29th Screen Actors Guild Awards took place at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Century City, California on February 26, and the ceremony was streamed live on Netflix’s YouTube channel.

This year’s award season has been one crazy rollercoaster ride, and things got even more intense at the SAG Awards. The Trial of the Chicago 7, The Crown, and Schitt’s Creek come out as the biggest winners on the night full of historic victories and unexpected surprises.

The cast of Aaron Sorkin’s Chicago 7 picked up the award for the best ensemble in a motion picture, beating the likes of Minari and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. It was a historic night for the cast member Michael Keaton, who became the first actor in SAG history to pick up the award in this category on three separate occasions.

Actors of color made history in other acting categories, where the awards went to the Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom leads Chadwick Boseman and Viola Davis, Minari’s Youn Yuh-jung, and Daniel Kaluuya for Judas and the Black Messiah.

The Crown and Schitt’s Creek were the biggest winners in the TV field, and they both picked up awards for the best television ensemble in their respective categories. Robert De Niro reminded us of his glory days with the roles in this year’s films The Irishman and Joker, and SAG-AFTRA bosses felt it’s the perfect time to honor him with the life achievement award at the upcoming Screen Actor Guild Awards ceremony.

De Niro has been one of Hollywood’s most celebrated actors since he rose to prominence during the ‘70s with his roles in Taxi Driver and The Godfather: Part II. Frequent collaboration with Martin Scorsese gave us some of the best movies of his career, including Raging Bull, Casino, and Goodfellas.

The SAG-AFTRA president Gabrielle Carteris praised De Niro’s ability to “touch our hearts and open our minds to new and exciting worlds of understanding and emotion” in an official statement announcing their decision to honor two-time Oscar winner with this award.

Robert De Niro also released a statement saying it’s an honor to receive this prestigious award from SAG-AFTRA after being a member of this guild for over five decades. He’ll be presented with this accolade at the 26th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, taking place on January 19th, 2020.

CODA pulled a major upset and managed to defeat Belfast, Don’t Look Up, The House of Gucci, and King Richard to win the biggest award of the night—the outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture. Its star Troy Kotsur was crowned as the best supporting actor.

The list of individual acting winners in the motion picture field also included best actor Will Smith (King Richard), best actress Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye), and best-supporting actress Ariana DeBose (West Side Story).

The TV categories brought several expected wins our way, starting with Succession and Ted Lasso winning awards for best ensemble in a drama and comedy series, respectively. Squid Game walked away with three awards, including best actor and actress in a drama (Lee Jung-jae and Jung Ho-Yeon), and best stunt ensemble.

Gillian Anderson and Catherine O’Hara were rewarded for their performances in these two series, joining the list of acting winners that included Jason Bateman (Ozark) and Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso).

Three of the stars of the NBC hit show This Is Us accidentally wore a nearly identical shade of blue at the 2018 SAG Awards on Sunday – and found it hilarious.

According to Mandy Moore’s Instagram story from the evening, they didn’t plan this but were thrilled with the result. Moore’s dress was a custom Ralph Lauren slip, Susan Kelechi wore a Rubin Singer gown, while Chrissy Metz opted for a custom Kate Spade New York piece. The ladies dominated the evening in electric blue times three.

The evening was quite a success for This Is Us cast as they went home with the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. Furthermore, Sterling K.
