Hulu has unveiled the first trailer for its upcoming series, Normal People.

The series is based on the celebrated 2019 Sally Rooney novel of the same name. The clip is the first look at Marianne (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and Connell (Paul Mescal).

Here’s the official synopsis from the streamer: “Normal People tracks the tender but complicated relationship of Marianne and Connell from the end of their school days in a small-town west of Ireland to their undergraduate years at Trinity College. At school, he’s well-liked and popular, while she’s lonely, proud and intimidating. But when Connell comes to pick up his mother from her cleaning job at Marianne’s house, a strange and indelible connection grows between the two teenagers — one they are determined to conceal. A year later, they’re both studying in Dublin and Marianne has found her feet in a new social world but Connell hangs at the side lines, shy and uncertain. Honest, smart and intoxicating, Normal People sees the pair weave in and out of each other’s lives and explores just how complicated intimacy and young love can be.”

Just two months after the launch of season 2 of Shrill, Hulu renews the hit comedy series.

The show, co-created by Aidy Bryant and Lindy West, will be back for another season, following Bryant’s Annie, a fat young woman who wants to change her life — but not her body.

In season 1, Annie tried to start her career while juggling bad boyfriends, a sick parent, and a perfectionist boss. After facing her demons — her mom, her boss, and her online troll. Annie started season 2 feeling pretty good with her boyfriend Ryan (Luka Jones) by her side. Until she realized that hastily quitting her job and jumping into a relationship with someone who is a little less career-focused may not have been the best idea. While Annie learned it’s not easy to get what she always imagined she’d want, she found that she is no longer the doormat she once was — and she’s just getting started.

While some, like Steven Spielberg, vehemently believe that films produced by such services should not be eligible for Oscars, but Emmys instead, it has not yet stopped features like Netflix’s Roma sweeping awards ceremonies.

Brad Pitt believes there is space for both.

The veteran actor, who has starred in over 80 productions, told GQ, “I really appreciate the streaming services because we’re seeing more and more quality projects being made. We’re seeing more writers and directors and actors getting a shot. It just tells you how many talented people are out there.”

On the “war” between tradition and the future, Pitt remained hopeful.

Hulu’s newest comedy, Shrill, will be back for a second season.

The streaming giant has put in a second season order for the comedy one month after the series made its debut. The series’ sophomore run will span eight episodes, two more than the first season.

The show is based on Lindy West’s 2016 memoir Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman and stars Saturday Night Live‘s Aidy Bryant. Bryant, West, and Alexandra Rushfield co-wrote the adaptation.

The series follows Annie (Bryant), an overweight young woman who wants to change her life, but not her body. While trying to start her career as a journalist, Annie juggles bad boyfriends, sick parents and a perfectionist boss. Despite the world around her deeming her not good enough because of her weight, Annie starts to realize that she’s as good as anyone else, and acts on it.

Lolly Adefope, Luka Jones, Ian Owens and John Cameron Mitchell starred in the first season.

Shrill is expected to return in 2020.
