In addition to country legend Parton, soul singer Richie, and hip-hop titan Eminem, they also honored new wave duo Eurythmics, synth-pop band Duran Duran, and rock singers-songwriters Pat Benatar and Carly Simon.
Parton’s acceptance speech was one of the night’s highlights, especially since it comes months after she tried to reject her nomination because she didn’t feel deserving of this honor.
“This is a very special night for me. I’m sure a lot of you knew that back when they said they were gonna put me in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I didn’t really feel like I had done enough to deserve that… But I’m just honored and so proud to be here tonight,” said Parton in her acceptance speech.
She joins in the ranks of Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Chet Atkins, Bill Monroe, and Brenda Lee as one of the rare artists to be inducted into both the Rock & Roll and Country Music Hall of Fame.

]]>50 Cent, who also serves as the series executive producer, confirmed the news on social media.
“Oh yeah I’m bringing the big dogs out, I couldn’t do a show based in Detroit without incorporating the legend @eminem,” 50 Cent wrote on Instagram while posting a photo of a headline reporting Eminem’s casting.
The series is based on the true story of brothers Demetrius Flenory and Terry Flenory. The pair started as small-time dealers in Detroit before founding the Black Mafia Family organization and establishing it as one of the country’s biggest drug trafficking and money laundering operations.
Eminem’s character Richard Wershe Jr. AKA White Boy Rick was the youngest informant in FBI history, being employed at the age of 14 and working until he was 16. At the age of 17, Wershe was arrested with 17.6 pounds of cocaine and sentenced to life in prison. He received parole in 2017 and was released from prison in 2020.
Since his acclaimed appearance in 2002’s semi-biographical movie 8 Mile, Eminem took several acting gigs but always played a fictionalized role of himself. He was notably offered the lead role in the 2013 science-fiction flick Elysium but turned it down when director Neill Blomkamp didn’t want to relocate filming from Los Angeles to Detroit.

Eminem himself noted the fact the performance was a long time coming. “Look, if you had another shot, another opportunity… Thanks for having me [Academy]. Sorry it took me 18 years to get here,” he tweeted. The tweet contained a video of Barbara Streisand presenting the award.

]]>The “Venom” rapper took to Instagram this weekend to acknowledge an important milestone in his life.
The 46-year-old, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, has always been very open about his past addictions to substance abuse.
“Within a month I had relapsed,” he said about an incident in 2007 in which he was admitted to hospital for an overdose. “And I was just walking around my house thinking every single day, ‘I’m going to f***ing die.’ I’m looking at my kids, and I need to be here for this.”
His three children, Alaina, Hailie, and Whitney, is what the musician credits as helping him get sober.
And now, he has celebrated 11 years on the straight and narrow.
Posting a picture of his sobriety coin, Eminem captioned the photo, “11 years — still not afraid,” in reference to his 2010 song “Not Afraid” off his album Recovery.
We’re pleased that he has not lost himself.

]]>The Chicago rapper has accomplished a pretty impressive feat by tying a record held by The Beatles for the longest streak of albums to hit number one.
Kanye’s 8th studio album, Ye, was released on the 1st of June and went straight to number one on the Billboard 200.
The occurrence meant that the 41-year-old now holds the same record as the Fab Four, as well as fellow rapper Eminem, who have all notched up 8 consecutive number one albums.
During Ye’s first week, it already sold 208,000 album units — 85,000 of which were traditional albums as opposed to digital downloads.
Wife, Kim Kardashian, proved once again that she is Yeezy’s biggest fan by applauding her husband’s efforts on Twitter:

]]>Compared to 2017, Jay-Z increased its net worth from $810 million to $900 million, thanks to his champagne brand Armand de Brignac and D’Ussé cognac. His ownership stakes in Roc Nation and Tidal streaming service also greatly helped the cause.
Diddy, on the other hand, didn’t have such a fruitful year like Jay-Z, but he also didn’t lose any of his wealth. In 2018 Diddy’s net worth is $825 million, which represents a $5 million increase compared to the last year. His ventures in vodka (Ciroc) and TV ( Revolt) businesses didn’t pan out as he may have expected, but his businesses with DeLeón tequila and beverage company Diageo helped Diddy to keep his fortune intact.
Dr. Dre remained on the third spot with a net worth of $770 million, compared to $730 million in 2017. The legendary rapper and hip-hop producer might well claim the first spot in 2019 since he is about to get some Apple stocks in the summer which could end up being worth well about $100 million.
When it comes to fourth and fifth place on the list, there is a tie between Eminem and Drake. The both have an estimated net worth of $100 million.
