Get ready to roll… on Broadway!

A musical about the great Tina Turner is headed to New York City’s big stage

Entitled Tina, the show is based on the life of the “What’s Love Got to Do With It” singer and is currently playing in London’s West End where it debuted in April.

“Bringing this musical to life on stage and working with this team has meant so much to me,” said the 78-year-old who co-produced the musical. “I feel that it is in many ways a culmination of my career. London audiences have been and continue to be extraordinary. Now, the bright lights of Broadway are calling, and I’m very excited to share this beautiful show with New York audiences next year.”

The location, dates, and cast will be announced at a later stage (perhaps they’re looking for a private dancer?)

Tina is scheduled to make its Broadway debut in the fall of 2019.

We’re sure it will be simply the best!

Mrs. Doubtfire is finally Broadway-bound and fans are ecstatic!

Rumors of a Broadway Mrs. Doubtfire production have been circulating for years but Fox Stage Productions have finally announced the creative team for the production.

The original film starred the late Robin Williams as a recently divorced actor who dresses up as an old British female housekeeper to be able to interact with his children. It was based on the best-selling source novel, Alias Madame Doubtfire by Anne Fine.

The on-stage production based on the 1993 hit film and will be helmed by four-time Tony Award winner and eight-time Tony nominee Jerry Zaks. John O’Farrell and Karey Kirkpatrick (Something Rotten!) will write the book and Karey and Wayne Kirkpatrick will handle the music and lyrics.

In a joint statement, McCollum and Bob Cohen of Fox Stage Productions said, “Mrs. Doubtfire is such a beloved story, both laugh-out-loud hilarious and extremely moving. Getting this team together and crafting Mrs. Doubtfire for the stage has been pure joy. We can’t wait to get into production.”

According to the release, additional creative team members, as well as the cast, will be announced “at a later date.”

Fox Stage Productions have yet to finalize the production’s schedule.

Bruce Springsteen is coming to Netflix.

The streaming giant announced that while Springsteen on Broadway is closing at the end of the year, fans will be able to get some Springsteen on the streaming platform.

The sold-out Broadway show is coming to Netflix with a special of the same name, the day the music icon will take to the stage for the last time after 236 sold-out shows at the Jujamcyn’s Walter Kerr Theatre.

“We are thrilled to bring Bruce Springsteen — a master storyteller, humanitarian and voice of the everyman — to Netflix in this historic one-man show,” said Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos.” This groundbreaking experience defies the boundaries of theater, concerts, and film and will give our global audience an intimate look at one of the biggest cultural icons of our time.”

“The purpose of the film is to bring this incredibly intimate show to Bruce’s entire audience intact and complete,” said Springsteen manager Jon Landau. “In addition to its many other virtues, Netflix has provided for a simultaneous worldwide release which is particularly important for our massive international audience. Ted Sarandos and the entire company’s support has been a perfect match for Bruce’s personal commitment to the filmed version of ‘Springsteen on Broadway.’ “

The two-hour show featured Springsteen performing and spinning yarns from his 2016 biography Born to Run.

The Scandal alum is making her Broadway return.

After seven seasons on ABC’s political drama, Kerry Washington carries on joining the Broadway production of American Son.

Washington will star opposite Broadway veteran Steven Pasquale for the debut of Christopher Demos-Brown’s play directed by Tony Award winner Kenny Leon.

American Son delves into race relations in America following two parents in a Florida police station as they grapple with a crisis involving their son.

“Growing up in New York I wanted to be onstage before anything else. My original ideas of what performance looked like, what acting looked like, were from Broadway,” Washington said in a statement.

The opportunity to play the parent of a biracial missing teenager convinced her that this should be her next on-stage project, “I was so transfixed by the material,” she said. “It had such a deep and profound impact on me and I just couldn’t wait to get it on its feet.”

American Son will begin performances on October 6 for a limited engagement at the Booth Theatre.

Just weeks after making its Broadway debut, it was announced that Frozen will kick off its North American tour in fall 2019.

The production will make its way across the country with an official opening at the Pantages in Los Angeles. Additional dates for the tour’s itinerary as well as castings have yet to be announced. It is known, however, that the production will keep its musical direction of two-time Tony winner Stephen Oremus and conductor Dave Metzger during the tour.

The Disney adaptation has received three Tony nominations for best score, book and musical. Music was composed by the husband and wife duo Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, the book is by Jennifer Lee. Michael Grandage serves as director.

“The only reason to expand this piece into a full-length Broadway musical was to dive much deeper into the idea of a family that can get frozen into dysfunction because of fear and shame,” Anderson-Lopez said of Frozen on-stage adaptation to The Hollywood Reporter. “To come to the theater and sit and have this analog experience with other people, allowing your emotions to really get as big as the emotions onstage, is something that we kind of need, and it can be really healing.”

April Fool’s Day. The day on which to believe nothing and trust no one. Just like every other day.

The comedic holiday leaves many feeling skeptical and cautious about just what pranks or fake news might be coming their way.

And speaking of fake news… Lin-Manuel Miranda purported a story which we partly wish was true. In honor of April Fool’s Day, the Hamilton creator announced that he would be adapting The Room into a Broadway musical!

The film by Tommy Wiseau — which was the subject of 2017’s The Disaster Artist — has been dubbed “the best worst film ever made”. The “official” cast list, according to TheatreMania would have included Miranda himself, Patti LuPone, Justin Guarini, and Mark Rylance.

Songs from the production were listed as I Just Like to Watch; Half Canadian Bacon With Pineapple, Half Artichoke With Pesto and Light on the Cheese; and Cheap, Cheap, Cheap (The Chicken Song).

We’re so devastated that the report is not true, it’s tearing us apart.

Idina Menzel took to Twitter on Monday to announce that she and Aaron Lohr got married. The couple met in 2005 on the set of film adaptation of Rent. They have been dating since 2015 and got engaged in 2016.

“Wanted to let you know… Married the love of my life #aaronlohr this weekend @ our home,” the Broadway actress tweeted. “Dad & son walked me down aisle. It was magical.”

Menzel revealed her engagement to Rent co-star in September last year. “I have wonderful news…my man and I are engaged! We are so happy,” the Frozen star wrote. “It’s a beautiful time.”

According to Variety, the pair moved in together in 2015 after they bought a house in Encino, California.

This is the second marriage for the 46-year-old actress, who shares a son with ex-husband Taye Diggs. The two met as co-stars in the original Broadway production of Rent in 1995 and went on to star in the 2005 movie, alongside Lohr. Menzel and Diggs tied the knot in 2003 and separated after 10 years, E! News reports.

In 2014, Menzel discussed the drawbacks of dating after divorce with Valentine in the Morning, sharing, “It all sucks.” And with a young son to consider, she said, “I don’t want to keep introducing him to people and having him form bonds and then take them away, you know? It’s bad enough his mom and dad are getting divorced.”

“I went through it when I was 15 years old. I keep telling myself, because I feel so badly for him, it’s better that he’s 4-and-a half than when he’s 15. He has two parents that love him very much and we want to be great moms and dads,” Menzel explained. “At 15 I was too aware; I thought I was an adult, and I got in the middle of everything, and I took on the stress for both of them.”

After being engaged to Lohr last year, Menzel confessed that she was still beating herself up over the divorce. “You have a lot of regret with a child, and feeling like you’re failing them in some way,” she told People Now. “Not giving them the idealistic scenario.” Fortunately, she and Diggs remain cordial as co-parents. “Your child comes first. That’s all. It’s all about that. He comes first and you have to get past your own egos and you never talk bad about each other.”
