Beyoncé is no stranger to breaking records, and she’ll set a few more at this year’s Grammy Awards. The Recording Academy unveiled the list of nominations for the next ceremony, and Queen B is leading the way with 11, in addition to making history as the most-nominated artist ever with a total of 99 nods.

Beyoncé is already the most decorated artist in the history of the Grammy Awards with a total of 32 wins, but she now surprised her husband Jay-Z to become the most nominated artist, as well. She also broke the tie she previously shared with Lauryn Hill for most nominations for a female artist in a single year.

Despite writing her name in history books time and time again, Beyoncé is yet to win the coveted album of the year award. She’ll get another chance to come up victorious with Cowboy Carter, competing against the likes of Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, and Billie Eilish.

Beyoncé also received nods for song and record of the year with “Texas Hold ‘Em”, but the race for these awards will be pretty tight. Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather”, Taylor Swift’s “Fortnight” ft. Post Malone, Chappell Roan’s “Good Luck Babe”, and Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” are also in the running.

The 2025 Grammy Awards are returning to the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 2, 2025, and the host is yet to be announced.

Beyoncé has given us one of the most talked-about country albums in recent memory with Cowboy Carter, and its success helped her top several charts this week. Cowboy Carter easily hit No. 1 during its debut week, and here are some of the most significant chart milestones it managed to set.

Billboard 200

With 407,000 equivalent album units earned during its debut week, Cowboy Carter climbed atop the Billboard 200 chart, with the largest week for an album this year. It’s Beyoncé’s eighth album to achieve this feat, which is the fourth-most among female soloists, behind Taylor Swift, Barbra Streisand, and Madonna.

Streaming & Sales

Cowboy Carter scored the largest streaming week of Beyoncé’s career, with 300.41 million official streams. It also topped Billboard’s Album Sales charts with 168,000 in pure sales, including 62,000 vinyl copies, which marks Beyoncé’s largest week on vinyl.

Country-Related Records

Beyoncé’s decision to go full country on this album worked wonders for her and helped her climb atop Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. She’s the first Black female artist to achieve this feat, in addition to breaking the same record on the Hot Country Songs chart with “Texas Hold ‘Em”, released as one of the two promo singles when she first announced Cowboy Carter.

Country music is experiencing a true boom right now, and Beyoncé is gearing up to embrace this genre on her next album. The release date of her upcoming record is just two weeks away, and we finally know it will be called Act II: Cowboy Carter.

After exploring the Black roots of the house and disco music on Renaissance, Beyoncé is ready to embrace the same approach on its follow-up album. She’ll tackle country this time around, after becoming aware that “the Black, brown and Native cowboy stories are missing in American history”, per an interview with Harper’s Bazaar.

Beyoncé announced the title of her next album by sharing an image of a saddle with metallic embellishments, covered with a red, white, and blue sash with the words “Cowboy Carter” written in the middle. This photo isn’t the official album cover, but it symbolizes the transition from Beyoncé’s Renaissance era since its cover showed her riding a horse with a blingy saddle.

Act II: Cowboy Carter is coming out on March 29, and Beyoncé already teased its release with two singles: “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages”. The first song created a lot of buzz for this album after hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Country Songs charts, making history as the first song by a Black female artist to top the latter chart.

Concert films by the world’s leading artists are set to save the movie theatres this fall, and Beyoncé has another one on the way. Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé will premiere this December and chronicle the journey she embarked on during her historic Renaissance World Tour.

The Renaissance World Tour kicked off this May in Sweden, and it saw Beyoncé perform 56 concerts around the world. This global event came to a close on October 1 in Kansas City, Missouri, and Beyoncé celebrated its ending by dropping the official trailer for Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé.

“It is about Beyoncé’s intention, hard work, involvement in every aspect of the production, her creative mind and purpose to create her legacy, and master her craft. Received with extraordinary acclaim, Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour created a sanctuary for freedom, and shared joy, for more than 2.7 million fans,” reads the film’s official logline.

Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé will premiere on December 1, and it will be distributed by AMC Theatres. According to Variety, the film will include both concert and behind-the-scenes footage, in addition to highly-anticipated music videos from the visual album Renaissance, which produced hit singles “Break My Soul”, “Cuff It”, and “America Has a Problem”.

When Beyoncé’s Netflix documentary was titled Homecoming, little did we know it signified the singer’s new home at the streaming network.

The featurette is a behind-the-scenes look at Bey’s appearance at Coachella in 2018, where she became the first African-American to headline the music festival.

Variety now reports that the “Drunk In Love” singer has signed on to do two more projects on Netflix. The deal, which includes the initial Homecoming docu, is believed to be worth $60 million.

Beyoncé is credited as executive producer, writer, and director of Homecoming, which dropped on April 17. The project is estimated to have cost $20 million.

“What people don’t see is the sacrifice,” says Beyoncé in one of the movie’s many voiceover segments. “I definitely pushed myself further than I knew I could. And I learned a very valuable lesson. I will never, never push myself that far again.”

Neither Beyoncé nor Netflix’s representatives have commented on the reported deal, but we really hope it gets into formation!

Beyoncé and Jay Z know all about love.

The couple has been married for almost 11 years, has three children, and sing many songs with “love” in the title.

On Thursday night, the Carters were honored at the GLAAD Awards which recognized them for their contribution to the LGBTQ+ community.

“We’re here to promote love for every human being,” Beyoncé said while accepting the Vanguard Award alongside her husband.

“And change starts with supporting the people closest to you. So let’s tell them they are loved. Let’s remind them that they are beautiful, let’s speak out and protect them. And parents, let’s love our kids in their truest form… I’d like to request that we continue to shift the stigmas in this community, especially the stigmas in black families towards queer black and brown men and women.”

Jay Z acknowledged his mother Gloria who came out as a lesbian late in life, while the Lemonade singer dedicated the award to her “fabulous, gay” uncle Johnny who died of AIDS.

“He lived his truth, he was brave and unapologetic during a time when this country wasn’t as accepting. And witnessing his battle with HIV was one of the most painful experiences I’ve ever lived. I’m hopeful his struggles served to open pathways for other young people to live more freely. LGBTQI rights are human rights. To choose who you love is your human right. How you identify and see yourself is your human right.”

South Africa will play host to the Global Citizen Festival on Sunday. The initiative aims to eradicate extreme poverty by 2030. In addition, the festival will celebrate the Mandela centenary as 2018 marks 100 years since former South African President and Nobel Prize Laureate, Nelson Mandela, was born.

The line-up for the show is set to include stars such as Ed Sheeran, Beyoncé, Jay Z, Pharrell, Wizkid, Usher, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Black Coffee, as well as other African artists.

Despite Mandela passing away 5 years ago, the “Formation” singer decided to write a letter to the late legend.

Referring to him by his African clan name “Madiba”, Beyoncé wrote, “It is an honor for me to travel to South Africa this week in celebration of you and your efforts to right so many wrongs. You were a strategic warrior, a bold activist, and charismatic and well-loved leader. Your vision for dignity, for human rights, for peace and a South Africa free of racism and apartheid, allows us all to turn dreams into reality.”

Praising Madiba, the singer wrote: “You made it possible for so many people like me to reject impossibilities and understand our capabilities in making lasting change in the world. The smallest efforts could change the trajectory for so many living in extreme poverty, facing injustices, the indecency of racism and fighting for their rights as humans.”

She ended off the letter with a promise, “I promise you that we have made your dreams our own. Your work and your sacrifices were not in vain,” before signing her name as Beyoncé Knowles-Carter.

Make good music and the money will come.

With 2018 drawing to a swift close, Forbes has announced which women topped the charts — both musically and financially.

Thanks to a mammoth world tour, which took place between June 2017 and June 2018, Katy Perry was ranked as the best-earning female artist for 2018 with a cool $83 million.

The “Swish Swish” singer came just ahead of fellow singer Taylor Swift whose Reputation Stadium Tour helped her earn $80 million.

Beyoncé rounded out the top 3 with a significantly less $60 million as a result of the joint tour with her husband Jay-Z, On the Run II.

The Newly-cinematized singer, Lady Gaga, who garnered praise for her lead role in A Star Is Born, took home $50 million putting her in 5th place behind Pink who scored 4th place thanks to $52 million.

Jennifer Lopez came in 6th with $47 million, followed by Rihanna with $37.5 million, Helene Fischer with $32 million, Celine Dion with $31 million, and Britney Spears with $30 million.

Before Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper dived into the shallow and made us all believe in true love again, a very different version of A Star Is Born was on the cards.

The film is the third remake of the 1937 film, with previous versions having starred Judy Garland and James Mason, and Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.

The latest installment, however, was set to look quite different originally.

Clint Eastwood and Beyoncé were attached to the project when talks began in 2011, but plans went awry.

“There was a moment where that was the best version of the movie and then all of a sudden, Beyonce got pregnant. Do we wait?” the film’s producer, Bill Gerber, told The Hollywood Reporter. “She was amazing about all this stuff. She always understood if we were going to take a different direction. And then Clint went off and did another movie.”

You might describe the entire thing as fate if you’re Bradley Cooper.

The 43-year-old originally passed on the film, feeling he was too young, but when presented with the opportunity again, Gerber says, “he was happy to hire himself as the actor because he was a little older at [that] point and he felt like he could portray the character better.”

We think he did a pretty good job.

Hold up, because Beyoncé has been dethroned as the Queen of Instagram.

Last year, the Drunk in Love singer celebrated the 1 month anniversary of her twins’ birth by sharing a picture of herself holding Rumi and Sir.

Sir Carter and Rumi 1 month today. ??❤??????????

A post shared by Beyoncé (@beyonce) on

The post garnered 7.8 million likes in just 12 hours.

But if you thought that was impressive (which it is!), wait until you hear about Selena Gomez’ latest pic.

The Back to You songstress recently turned 26 and shared a few snaps from her Italian-themed birthday bash.

Bearing in mind that Selena is the most-followed person on Instagram (139 million followers and counting…), her post received over a million likes in just 13 minutes — breaking Bey’s record for hitting the milestone in the shortest amount of time.

Over 9 million people have now double-tapped.

Good for you, Selena.
