South Park is staying open for business!
It feels as if the Comedy Central animated series has been around forever, and now you can make that forever plus three more years.
As it stands, the show is the longest-running scripted cable series at a whopping 23 seasons. The impressive run puts it just behind The Simpsons as the longest-running animated series of all time.
“Apparently, our efforts to get our own show cancelled have fallen short,” joked creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. “Luckily, we love Comedy Central and Kent Alterman and our staff, so we are looking forward to new cancellation opportunities in the next few years.”
The renewal will take the series through to at least season 26.
When season 23 kicks off on September 25th, it is set to include the show’s 300th episode.
