Variety reports Sophie Turner’s claims that the new and final season of beloved HBO TV show Game of Thrones will not air until 2019. According to the actress, the earliest we can hope for the season to begin is late 2018, and it’s all because of the prolonged production that will last through the summer of 2018.
Turner also revealed the emotions of the cast after reading of the last scripts. “It was hard. At the end of the very last script, they read aloud, “End of Game of Thrones.” As soon as they read that out, pretty much everyone burst into tears. There was a standing ovation.”
The show’s creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss previously said that they’re going to need at least a year and a half to make the final season. Since they started in October this year, it was never really certain that we might see the show in 2018.
However, HBO has not officially confirmed this yet.
