To celebrate the show’s 50th anniversary, the entire Sesame Street library will be moving over to HBO Max along with five new seasons.

There have been 50 seasons of the show to date and the 51st season will premiere on HBO Max. HBO will air all episodes up to season 50 so that adults and children alike can enjoy the iconic family show. The new season will contain 35 new episodes, which will move back over to PBS Kids after its HBO Max premiere.

“The scope of our partnership with Sesame Workshop is unprecedented,”  Kevin Reilly, the chief content officer for HBO Max, said in a statement. “The beloved ‘Sesame Street’ characters and these incredible new shows will be ambassadors for our service and the cornerstone of HBO Max’s extensive kids’ offering.”

Sesame Workshop’s chief operating officer, Steve Youngwood, added: “As we celebrate 50 years of ‘Sesame Street’ and look to the future, we are thrilled to enter into this powerful partnership with HBO Max and their growing offering of best-in-class content. Producing this broad slate will help us deliver on our mission to help kids everywhere grow smarter, stronger, and kinder.  We are also excited about partnering with WarnerMedia and AT&T as we seek ways to expand Sesame Workshop’s impact around the world.”

The big move will happen in 2020, but the exact release date is to be announced.
