On Friday, HBO has officially announced that their Emmy-winning TV show Big Little Lies will be back for Season 2.

The HBO show concluded its first season in April. It featured an ensemble cast that included Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Alexander Skarsgard, Zoe Kravitz and Laura Dern and focused on a group of parents in Monterey, California and the drama surrounding their lives – which ultimately lead to the murder of one of the characters.

It has been confirmed that Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman will return for the second season and that Andrea Arnold will be the director and executive producer.

Here’s what the longline for the Season 2 reads: “The subversive, darkly comedic drama ‘Big Little Lies’ will explore the malignancy of lies, the durability of friendships, the fragility of marriage and, of course, the vicious ferocity of sound parenting. Relationships will fray, loyalties will erode … the potential for emotional and bodily injury shall loom.”
