Sara Bareilles once promised that she wouldn’t write a love song, and so she has delivered one of heartbreak instead.

The Grammy Award nominee released her latest single on Friday ahead of her 6th studio album, which is due out next month.

The “Brave” singer stepped away from the charts for a while as she turned her musical prowess to the stage. She penned the music for the theater productions of the 2007 film Waitress and the SpongeBob SquarePants musical (earning herself a Tony nod), as well as starred as Mary Magdalene in NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert!

Thankfully for us, Sara has returned to her radio-friendly roots by releasing a new ballad entitled “No Such Thing.”

Co-written with Justin Tranter, who is responsible for Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” and Julia Michaels’ “Issues,” the haunting song includes the lyrics, “Tell me how to start what comes after you,” giving us a mixture of feels and chills.

Sara’s upcoming album, Amidst the Chaos, is out on April 5th.
