Looks like you can’t spell “Deadpool” without “dedication”!

Deadpool is known for being one of — if not the — most uncouth of Marvel’s characters, and coupled with China’s pretty strict censorship laws that are in place, it meant that Chinese fans of the anti-hero never got the chance to see him on the big screen.

At the end of last year, Marvel released a tamer version of the Deadpool sequel which is more palatable for audiences aged 13.

The edited version allowed the film to finally be shown in China, and star Ryan Reynolds wanted to be present for the momentous occasion — even if he was supposed to have been in surgery!

The 42-year-old injured his left arm during shooting and was scheduled to have surgery in New York on the day of the premiere, but decided that he had different priorities.

“This was more important. I was not going to miss coming to China,” he said.

Maybe he was able to get some Chinese medicine while he was there!
