A Ghostbusters sequel is officially in the works and Dan Aykroyd has confirmed his involvement.

It may be over 35 years since the original Ghostbusters movie debuted, but that does not mean fans are over the hype. A new feature is coming and it will be set in the same universe as the first two films. The script has been written by Jason Reitman, who is the son of the man who wrote the originals.

It was previously rumored that Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd would be returning for the third film and now, that rumor has been confirmed.

Speaking to Joe Rogan on his Youtube series, Aykroyd said: “Ivan Reitman’s son Jason has written a new movie, called — well, it’s gonna be Ghostbusters, the third movie. It’ll be all or most of the original people. And then young stars […] It’s gonna be great.

“I’m so excited about it, and it’s just wonderful to be able to [go] back and revisit that. I don’t do the pictures anymore much, and I’m in that one.”

The new Ghostbusters sequel will land in cinemas July 10th, 2020.
