Reese Witherspoon spoke with ET’s Cameron Mathison at the Los Angeles premiere of her new movie, Home Again, on Tuesday, where she talked about her role in The Mindy Project.

“I did a little cameo on Mindy, we’ll see what happens. It was really fun,” Witherspoon dished. “Mindy’s a great dear friend of mine for many years, so I was happy to be there in her last season.”

The news of the Oscar winner’s cameo appearance in the beloved comedy sitcom was revealed by Kaling in a photo she posted on Instagram on Tuesday morning.

“Our latest #themindyproject guest star is the only woman i would want to be trapped in a cave with. (This is weirdly the second cave we have acted in together!)” Kaling captioned the snapshot.

The two also star together in Ava DuVernay’s highly anticipated fantasy movie, A Wrinkle in Time, alongside Oprah Winfrey. The actresses play a trio of celestial beings/witches.

In Home Again, Witherspoon plays a single mother whose life is changed when she allows three young men, who are wannabe filmmakers, to move into her house, where she also lives with her kids. Things get complicated when her estranged husband (Michael Sheen) decided to return to live with her.

The film is the directorial debut of Hallie Meyers-Shyer, daughter of the famous director Nancy Meyers, who worked with her daughter as a producer on the movie.

“They were a great team!” Witherspoon said. “I’ve never worked with a mother-daughter team before, so this was really a first for me and it was really fun and nice to see those family dynamics.”

“[They’re] such a nice family. They’ve come up in this business together and it’s nice to see them [working together],” she continued.

Witherspoon’s own daughter, Ava Phillippe, was also in attendance at the Tuesday premiere. She will turn 18 next month and the proud mother said the milestone has left her “in shock.”

“I alternate between crying and feeling really proud of the woman she’s become,” she said. “She’s my best friend and we do everything together, it’s going to be hard for her to leave! But I have another year!”

The 41-year-old actress also opened up about her daughter becoming an adult in the HBO’s Big Little Lies FYC event in Los Angeles.

“It’s so weird. I can’t believe she’s [going to be] 18,” she told ET. “She’s great, and we did it together. I feel like we grew up together, it’s great.”
