Paramount Developing Third “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” Movie

2014's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."

Paramount is working to reboot the franchise with a third and new installment.

After the second installment of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows was a major disappointment, the studio is getting back to the drawing board teaming up with Andrew Dodge, the writer behind the comedy Bad Words, to pen the script.

While not much is known, Variety confirms that a third installment in the franchise is in development and will be produced by Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller via their Platinum Dunes banner.

The first installment simply was released in 2014 and grossed $493 million worldwide. Two years later, a second installment, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows was relapsed but did not fare well with the critics or viewers, grossing only $245 million.

Ever since the 1980s comic by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, the pizza-loving turtle superheroes have become a pop culture phenomenon.

Given that the project is a reboot and not a sequel, fans are wondering, what can a new writer do to make the Turtles better?
