Netflix has given us one of its best horror shows in recent memory with Locke & Key, and they recently surprised fans of the series with some amazing news. The streaming giant renewed the fan-favorite show for its third season ahead of the second season premiere.

Locke & Key follows three siblings who move into their ancestral home Keyhouse with their mother after their father’s mysterious death, only to discover it’s filled with dozens of mysterious keys. The series was developed by Carlton Cuse, Meredith Averill, and Aron Eli Coleite, and based on the comic-book series of the same name.

Netflix’s vice president of overall deals, Brian Wright, announced they also signed an overall deal with co-showrunner Meredith Averill, in addition to renewing the series.

“Carlton and Meredith have built an incredible world in Locke and Key and we’re excited to have the Lockes return for more in the third season. I’m delighted to expand our creative partnership with Meredith Averill, a talented creator with a keen eye for best-in-class horror and supernatural storytelling,” said Wright in a statement.

Locke & Key started streaming on Netflix on February 7th, 2020 and the release date for the second season is yet to be announced.
