Netflix Acquires Drama “When Heroes Fly”

When Heroes Fly is landing at Netflix. 

The streaming giant acquired the rights to the Hebrew-language drama series created by Omri Givon, co-creator of the show Hostages.

The Keshet International series won the top prize at the inaugural Cannes series festival earlier this year. The ten-episode first season premiered in May and proved to be a major hit in Israel. It has since been renewed for a sophomore season. The series, which gained considerable success in its local market and is currently being adapted for the US market

When Heroes Fly tells the story of four veterans of an Israeli military commando unit from the 2006 Lebanon war who reunite after more than a decade apart. The four set off on a final rescue mission in the Colombian jungle. 

When Heroes Fly is one of those series that instantly grabs you and keeps you hooked until the very end,” said Keshet International president Keren Shahar. “This series feels completely international and totally at home on a global platform like Netflix.”
