2019 is the year of Maya Hawke.
While some might know her as the daughter of Hollywood hard-hitters Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke, the 21-year-old is certainly making her own name in the industry.
Her role in season 3 of Stranger Things as Robin made her an instant fan favorite, and she has now broken into the music world as well.
Hawke used Instagram to release her two new tracks, “Stay Open” and “ To Love a Boy,” for which she wrote the lyrics. She collaborated with Jesse Harris, who wrote the music.
The actress admitted to Vogue that folk music has always been her inspiration, but that music never came easy to her.
“It was never easy for me,” she said. “I never had the best voice, but I’ve always had a real, great passion for poetry.”
As for what the future holds?
“I have no ambition to have a music career. I have a passion for writing songs, and I want to release this album, but I don’t know that I’ll tour it. I don’t know that I’ll ever do another one. I just know that this thing happened really naturally, so I wanted to share it. But acting is my first love and my focus.”
Though we wouldn’t mind if Robin did some singing in future Stranger Things.
