Lady Gaga had her first taste of the silver screen, and now she is set for another. The A Star Is Born actress has been announced as the lead in Ridley Scott’s upcoming film.

The movie, which does not yet have a title, will focus on the murder of Maurizio Gucci who spearheaded the famous Italian fashion house. After leaving his wife of 12 years for a younger woman, Gucci was murdered, with it later transpiring that the culprit was his wife, Patricia Reggiani.

Gaga will take on the role of the murderess, known as the Black Widow, who was ultimately convicted for the crime and spent 18 years in jail.

Although the “Shallow” singer has done television work on American Horror Story, this will be the follow-up to A Star Is Born for which she won a Best Original Song Oscar.

Sara Gay Forden’s book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed will serve as the basis for the film, with Roberto Bentivegna writing the script and Scott in the director’s chair.
