The Sex and the City alumna has been cast as the lead in Fox’s Filthy Rich drama pilot.

Kim Cattrall will both star and produce the Southern family soap titled Filthy Rich. The soap is based on the New Zealand series of the same name.

Cattrall will star as the Monroe family’s “larger than life” matriarch, whose patriarch — a wealthy CEO of the world’s largest Christian network — dies in a plane crash. After his death, Margaret and her children discover he has illegitimate kids who are also in his will. Margaret tries to pay them to go away, but the newly discovered heirs have other plans, which include becoming part of the family empire.

Tate Taylor penned the pilot and will also direct. Taylor will also executive produce alongside Brian Grazer, John Norris and Francie Calfo.

Cattrall recently starred in the first season of CBS All Access’ horror series Tell Me a Story.
