Suicide Squad star Jared Leto is set to play another villain, but this time it’s in the Marvel Universe.
Leto has stepped into the role of Morbius, a vampire super-villain in a new film based on the 1971 comic books by Rob Thomas and Kan.
Morbius makes a couple of appearances in the Marvel Universe, with the first being in the 1971 The Amazing Spider-Man and the other in the 1992 series Morbius, the Living Vampire.
The script for the movie was penned by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. In addition to Leto, it stars Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Matt Smith, and Tyrese Gibson.
According to Variety, Morbius follows “Michael Morbius (Leto), a biochemist in search of a cure for his rare blood disease. However, he accidentally injects himself with vampirism, giving him bat-like superpowers like echo-location and an insatiable thirst for blood.”
