Jared Leto is going on a trip that is likely to last longer than 30 seconds.

The Oscar winner’s rockband 30 Seconds to Mars is set to release its 5th studio album America with the 46-year-old honoring the event in a very unique way.

During a radio interview with Ryan Seacrest, Jared revealed that he is currently hitchhiking across the United States.

The Dallas Buyers Club actor reportedly used to hitchhike a lot in his younger days, telling Ryan, “You see a lot of unity. You see a lot of things that are very different from what we might expect from what we see on the news. You see a lot of people getting along. You see a lot of beauty. You see a lot of inspiration.”

Jared’s itinerary is all planned out (which is slightly unusual for a hitchhiker), saying “I’m going to hitchhike among other things across the country from New York City to Los Angeles. I’m going to jump on a donkey at the Grand Canyon or take a hot air balloon.”

So far the musician has given impromptu performances in Grand Central and Times Square, as well as harmonizing with a gospel choir at Penn Station.

You could say that the 30 Seconds to Mars frontman could practically write the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy.
