There’s a chance that Zack Morrison will not be in class when Saved by the Bell returns in its reboot…

And that’s apparently because Mark-Paul Gosselaar has not been approached!

NBCUniversal announced on Tuesday that it would be rebooting the comedy, which ran from 1989 to 1993, for its new streaming service, Peacock.

“I read it in the trades just like everybody else this morning,” Gosselaar told Variety. “Honestly, I was never approached. I woke up to the news this morning with a kind of ‘huh’ response.”

Former cast members Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkeley have signed on to star. So, would Gosselaar consider joining them?

“I’ve always been interested, of course,” he said.

The revival is expected to be set decades after the original, with Gosselaar’s character now the Governor of California. Having closed many low-income high schools, students get sent to the highest-performing schools in the state, including Bayside High, where Morrison himself was a pupil.
