HBO Responds to that “Game of Thrones” Faux Pas

It looks like HBO got their order wrong.

Aside from all the drama, dragons, and death in the last episode of Game of Thrones, there was also a goof that reminded us that the magical series set in Westeros is actually created by people who live in 2019.

The banquet scene at Winterfell featured lots of wine and mead, but it also mistakenly included a takeaway coffee cup.

Fans were quick to point out the cup, which appeared to be from Starbucks, on the table in front of Daenerys Targaryen.

The mishap resulted in the humorous hashtag #Starkbucks trending on Twitter, tying in nicely with the title of the episode — The Last of the Starks.

To their credit, HBO has now offered its own humorous take on the faux pas.

“The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake,” the network said in a statement. “Daenerys had ordered a herbal tea.”

Starbucks also responded, saying: “TBH we’re surprised she didn’t order a Dragon Drink.”

When a Twitter user commented, “What do Dragons drink, anyway?” The coffee chain replied, “Whatever they want.”

We wonder how the baristas spelt Dany’s name…
