According to sources close to the production Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is being put on hold.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the James Gunn helmed feature was supposed to begin principal photography in the winter, and the project was crewing up to go into full preproduction mode in the fall. But now the outlet reports that crew members are being assembled for preproduction have been dismissed and are free to look for new work.

James Gunn was fired by Disney from his post at Marvel following the unearthing of offensive tweets.

“The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James’ Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio’s values, and we have severed our business relationship with him,” Walt Disney Company Chairman Alan Horn said in a statement a couple of months ago.

Now that the company has “severed [its] business relationship” with Gunn, the third installment of the planned trilogy has been put on hold indefinitely.

Even though Disney has never set a release date for the feature, sources added that “The timeline has been pushed out.”
