“Godfather of Harlem” Renewed at Epix

Forest Whitaker and Giancarlo Esposito in "Godfather of Harlem"

The Forest Whitaker-led drama series Godfather of Harlem has been renewed for a second season at Epix.

News of the renewal was announced by Epix President Michael Wright more than two months after season one ended its run on the network.

Godfather of Harlem season one was a remarkable success, tripling previous viewership numbers for the network and earning acclaim from both critics and viewers alike,” said Wright. “We couldn’t wait to reunite with Chris, Paul, Forest and the team at ABC Signature to continue telling this compelling and extremely relevant story.”

Season one of Godfather of Harlem also featured Vincent D’Onofrio, Ilfenesh Hadera, Nigél Thatch, Giancarlo Esposito, Lucy Fry, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Rafi Gavron and Antoinette Crowe-Legacy.

Production on the 10-episode second season from creators Chris Brancato and Paul Eckstein will begin in New York later this year.
