Ah, the pursuit of true love.
After years as the most prominent bachelor in Hollywood, no one thought that George Clooney would ever settle down. (Sure, he was married to actress Talia Balsam for a few years in the ’90s, but who even remembers that?!)
And then along came Amal.
The Oscar winner and the British lawyer have been married for 5 years, but originally met at George’s Lake Como home in 2013.
“It’s the wildest thing. A mutual friend of ours said, ‘Im stopping by and can I bring my friend?’ And I was like, ‘Of course.’ I got a call from my agent who called me and said, ‘II met this woman who’s coming to your house who you’re gonna marry,’” George revealed.
“The funniest thing was my mom and dad were visiting, so my parents were there, and we just talked and we stayed up all night talking and then, you know, I got her email address ’cause she was going to send me some pictures of my parents and then, we started writing and I didn’t know if she wanted to go out with me. I just thought, you know, we were buddies.”
The 57-year-old admits that he pursued his now wife — despite their first date almost not happening because Amal was taking legal action against the Muslim Brotherhood that day and didn’t know exactly when she would be done.
At least it all worked out in the end!
