“Captain Marvel” Sequel in the Works

Marvel has officially set in motion its next female-centric feature.

Multiple outlets confirm Marvel and Disney have launched the development of a sequel to the 2019 hit film that starred Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, the co-writers and directors of the 2019 pic, are not set to return to the forthcoming follow up. Instead it is reported that Disney is in final negotiations with Megan McDonnell to pen the script.

McDonnell has penned the Marvel-based series WandaVision, which is set to debut later this year on Disney+.

Captain Marvel banked $1.1 billion at the box office worldwide.
