A star wasn’t the only thing that was born — but a friendship too.

Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga are the stars of the A Star is Born remake, with Bradley also making his directing debut.

Both have now opened up about just how the friendship they developed is what made filming all the more special.

“Our friendship is exactly what set the tone for this film,” Gaga told PEOPLE. “He’s such a wonderful person. He says it to me in the movie, he says, ‘All you gotta do is trust me.’ I trusted him the whole time. He pulled things out of me that I never thought that I ever had.”

The pair had an “instant connection” according to the “You and I” singer who revealed that he came over to her house and they shared leftover spaghetti before shooting began.

Gaga’s sentiments were backed up Bradley who said, “I made a friend for life. As great as this movie was the thing that I think I’ll take away forever is the relationship I have with her because she is an incredible person. I’m very lucky to have worked with her.”

Swoon!
