It has been revealed in an interview with Variety that Barbra Streisand has cloned her dog not once – but twice. After her favorite dog, Samantha, died aged fourteen, Streisand took cells from the dog’s stomach and mouth. She used these cells to make two successful clones.

The new dogs are called “Miss Scarlett” and “Miss Violet” in accordance with the red and lavender clothes she dressed them in to tell the pair apart.

While waiting for the clones, Streisand fell in love with a third Coton de Tulear dog, which she has named “Miss Fanny.” All three dogs make frequent appearances on her Instagram feed.

The story may seem bizarre, but this isn’t the first time that a star has been unwilling to let go of their beloved pet. In 2016, Fashion Designer Diane Von Furstenberg and her husband reportedly paid $100,000 to clone their Jack Russell terrier, Shannon.

Do the clones live up to the original? In Streisand’s interview with Variety, she claims that the dogs have different personalities but she is still waiting to see if they have the same brown eyes and seriousness as Samantha when they grow up. Either way, she loves her dogs dearly and is happy with the procedure.
