“Bad Boys for Life” Leads Box Office, Setting New Records

Although Bad Boys for Life has only been in theaters for three weeks, it’s already the highest-grossing installment in the action-comedy series.

Led by Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, the third installment in the series has made over $291 million globally, surpassing the previous record-holder, 2003’s Bad Boys II, which made $271 million, and the 1995 Bad Boys, which made $141 million worldwide.

Bad Boys for Life has taken the top spot in the international box office for the third week in a row, bringing in 30.8 million.

The film follows Detective Mike Lowrey (Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) and the Miami PD’s elite AMMO team, who are trying to bring down the head of a drug cartel, Amando Armas (Jacob Scipio). Also starring in Bad Boys for Life are Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton, Paola Nunez, Kate Del Castillo, and Nicky Jam.

Other box office hits include Lionsgate’s Knives Out, which is close to hitting the $300 million mark. Taking the second spot is 1917, which also had a great weekend in theatres, adding $20.9 million to its already $249 million made from worldwide box offices. Dolittle earned the third spot, earning 17.7 million to its $126 million.
