The post SZA Scores Her First No. 1 Song on Billboard Hot 100 With Viral Hit “Kill Bill” appeared first on TheDailyDay.
]]>During its most recent week on the chart, “Kill Bill” received 86.5 million radio airplay audience impressions, 28.3 million streams, and 5,000 downloads. It finally climbed to No. 1 thanks to these impressive numbers, which is quite an achievement considering it spent eight weeks at no. 2.
“Kill Bill” finally managed to surpass the previous chart-toppers Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night” and Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers”, which both repeatedly stopped it from hitting No. 1. It was a great week for hip-hop remixes on the Billboard Hot 100 overall, with Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj’s “Princess Diana” debuting at No. 4.
“Kill Bill” also marks SZA’s very first single to hit No. 1, but Doja Cat wasn’t credited on the Billboard Hot 100 since the remix didn’t account for the majority of the song’s overall consumption. The duo previously collaborated on “Kiss Me More”, which peaked at No. 3 and won them a Grammy for the best pop duo/group performance.

]]>By winning big in seven categories, Everything Everywhere became the biggest Oscar winner in over a decade, since Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire in 2009. In addition to picking up the best picture Oscar as the film’s producers, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert were also awarded for directing and writing this project.
Everything Everywhere was the biggest winner in the acting categories and made history as only the third film to win three acting awards at the Oscars. Michelle Yeoh became the first Asian woman to win best actress, and she was joined by her co-stars Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis and The Whale’s Brendan Fraser, who won the best actor trophy.
Netflix also had a reason to celebrate on Sunday night, after their film All Quiet on the Western Front picked up four Oscars. It was named the best international feature film and won big in several technical categories, including best original score, production design, and cinematography.
The 95th Academy Awards returned to the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 12, with Jimmy Kimmel hosting the ceremony for the third time.

]]>The post HBO Renews “The Last of Us” for Season 2 Following Its Impressive Debut appeared first on TheDailyDay.
]]>The Last of Us draws inspiration from Naughty Dog’s acclaimed video game of the same name, and its adaptation was a long time coming. Hardened survivor Joel takes center stage in this series, as we watch him embark on a journey across post-apocalyptic America in an attempt to smuggle a teenage girl Ellie out of an oppressive quarantine zone.
Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey take lead roles in this series, and they’re in pretty good company since its supporting cast includes Gabriel Luna, Anna Torv, Nico Parker, Murray Bartlett, Nick Offerman, Melanie Lynskey, and Storm Reid.
Craig Mazin, who co-created the series alongside the game’s author Neil Druckmann, credited the fans for its overnight success and thanked them for giving them a chance to continue telling this story.
“I’m so grateful to Neil Druckmann and HBO for our partnership, and I’m even more grateful to the millions of people who have joined us on this journey… As a fan of the characters and world Neil and Naughty Dog created, I couldn’t be more ready to dive back in,” said Mazin in a statement.

]]>The new taser sees David Tennant return to the beloved sci-fi series, taking on the role of the Fourteenth Doctor, and he’s not the only Doctor Who veteran making a comeback. The teaser gave us a major nostalgia overload because it also sees Catherine Tate return as Donna Noble.
Tate famously left the Doctor Who universe behind after Donna’s memories about her time with the Doctor were erased, but it seems she’s still haunted by them. “Sometimes, I think there’s something missing. Like I had something lovely and it’s gone,” she says in the teaser.
In addition to reuniting us with some of the old fan favorites, the teaser also introduced us to the Fifteenth Doctor, played by the Sex Education star Ncuti Gatwa.
Doctor Who will return to BBC in November, in the form of the three-hour-long 60th-anniversary special. Gatwa will take over from Tennant following this TV spectacle, and give us his own take on the Time Lord in Season 14, set to premiere in 2024.

]]>This shocking announcement comes shortly after Cavill decided to return as Superman in the DCU. The British actor said that his journey on this show was filled with both monsters and adventures, adding that he’s enthusiastic to see Hemsworth embody this fascinating and nuanced character.
Hemsworth said he’s over the moon to play Geralt of Rivia because he’s been The Witcher fan for years, and thanked Cavill for allowing him to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure.
“Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world,” said Hemsworth in a statement.
Cavill will bid his farewell when The Witcher returns for Season 3 on Netflix. Its release date is yet to be announced, but it will most likely premiere next summer.

]]>Spielberg’s new film defeated Sarah Polley’s Women Talking and Rian Johnson’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery to win the festival’s biggest honor. By doing so, it established itself as a major Oscar contender since many of the previous recipients of the People’s Choice Award either won or received a nomination for the best picture.
Spielberg thanked festival director Cameron Bailey, staff, and the audience for welcoming his new film with open arms and making this past weekend one he’ll never forget.
“As I said on stage the other night, ‘Above all, I’m glad I brought this film to Toronto!’ This is the most personal film I’ve ever made, and the warm reception from everyone in Toronto made my first visit to TIFF so intimate and personal for me and my entire Fabelman family,” said Spielberg in a statement.
The Fabelmans is inspired by the director’s childhood, and it stars Gabriel LaBelle, Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, and Judd Hirsch. It will have a limited theatrical release on November 11, before expanding wide on November 23.

]]>Heche was involved in a sequence of two car crashes in Los Angeles on August 5. She was rushed to the hospital in a critical state, and her representatives said she wasn’t expected to survive after she spent several days in a coma. Heche was declared legally dead on August 12 and was left on life support until a suitable organ recipient was found.
The star’s family confirmed her passing in an official statement and said she will be deeply missed, but she lives on through her beautiful sons, her iconic body of work, and her passionate advocacy.
“We have lost a bright light, a kind and most joyful soul, a loving mother, and a loyal friend… Her bravery for always standing in her truth, spreading her message of love and acceptance, will continue to have a lasting impact.”
Heche got her big break with her Daytime Emmy-winning role on the soap opera Another World, and went on to star in dozens of different projects in the next three decades. She played supporting roles in films Donnie Brasco, Volcano, Six Days, Seven Nights, and Return to Paradise and appeared on TV shows Men in Trees, Hung, Aftermath, and Gracie’s Choice, for which she received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination.

Making an introspective music video is a perfect fit for this song because it serves as the lead single on the group’s anthology album Proof. This record is a true treat for the fans because it features a total of 48 tracks across three CDs, ranging from hit singles and demos to new songs “Yet to Come”, “Run BTS”, and “For Youth”.
Proof was released on June 10, and the group’s official statement described it as “an anthology album that embodies the history of BTS”, which allows the listeners to “relive the history that BTS and the Army made together so far, and will continue to make in the future to come.”
