Not even The Dark Knight can stop Aquaman.

The superhero film tells the origin story of Arthur Curry (aka Aquaman) who must agree to save his people by leading them against his own half-brother whose plan is to the seven underwater kingdoms against the surface world.

The Jason Momoa movie has been making waves at the box office (ahem) and has now reached $1 billion worldwide.

The feat has not been achieved by a DC film since Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises was released in 2012.

Aquaman, which is produced by Warner Bros., has also become the first billion-dollar hit since 2014 that was not released by either Disney or Universal.

Stick your trident into that!
