]]>The uniqueness that is Dr. Sheldon Cooper could never have been contained in one series, so it seemed only fitting that CBS developed a show about his childhood entitled Young Sheldon.
Starring Iain Armitage as the titular character, the show is now in its sophomore season.
With the final season of The Big Bang Theory underway, it has now been confirmed that the 10-year-old, Lance Barber who plays his mom, and Montana Jordan who plays his brother Georgie, are all set to appear on the show.
It is not yet known how exactly young Sheldon will meet the grown-up version of himself played by Jim Parsons (who also narrates the spin-off), but we will find out come December.
Time-travel, anyone?

]]>“Young Sheldon has made a huge impact on our schedule in the short time it’s been on the air.” said CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl “While the show’s DNA is clearly rooted in The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon has staked out its own place in the TV universe with a unique creative tone, brilliant writing, and a gifted multi-generational cast. We can’t wait to see Chuck, Steve, Jim and Todd’s vision for how the Cooper family deals with Sheldon growing a year older… and smarter.”
Young Sheldon is the prequel to The Big Bang Theory and focuses on 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper growing up in Texas. The show stars Iain Armitage in the titular role, with Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, and Annie Potts joining the cast. Jim Parsons, who portrays Sheldon in The Big Bang Theory, serves as a narrator. Parsons was also the one to come up with the idea of a prequel story for his character, which was then turned into a pilot by Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro. The pilot was directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, The Jungle Book), who also serves as an executive producer.
CBS also renewed The Big Bang Theory for two more season in March 2017 which means that the show will air at least until 2020.
