One of Syfy’s most consistent shows over the past years has been cancelled.

The network announced that The Magicians, based on Lev Grossman’s bestselling novels of the same name, will end with its current fifth season.

Created by John McNamara and Sera Gamble, the series follows a group of 20-somethings attending Brakebills University for magicians as they discover their magical abilities and ward off evil creatures.

The Magicians has been a part of our Syfy family for five fantastic seasons,” Syfy said in a statement. “As we near the end of this journey, we want to thank John McNamara, Sera Gamble, Henry Alonso Myers, Lev Grossman, and our entire brilliant cast, crew, writers and directors for their beautiful creation. But most of all, we thank the fans for their tremendous support and passion. Because of you, magic will be in our hearts forever.”

Season four saw the departure of one of the show’s main cast members, Jason Ralph, who played Quentin Coldwater. Remaining leading castmates in season 5 include Stella Maeve as Julia Wicker, Hale Appleman as Eliot Waugh, Arjun Gupta as Penny Adiyodi, Summer Bishil as Margo Hanson, and Olivia Taylor Dudley as Alice Quinn.

The season finale, now officially series finale, will air April 1st.

The doll of nightmares is coming to the small screen.

Syfy has decided to adapt the infamous Chucky into a television series that is sure to be as scary as the film franchise.

Originally appearing in the 1988 film Child’s Play, the character took on a life of its own, spurning six sequels. 2019’s Child’s Play was a remake of the original and depicted the murderous doll being voiced by Mark Hamill.

It is not yet known whether Hamill will reprise his role for the television version, which has already been ordered to series by Syfy, but veteran director and screenwriter of all 7 films, Don Mancini, will serve as showrunner.

“In the new Chucky television series, after a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets,” reads the official logline.

“Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies — and allies — from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.”

No premiere date for the series has been announced as yet.

The former was canceled after two seasons and the latter after one. According The Hollywood Reporter, both dramas will be shopped by Universal Content Productions and Sony TV, respectively.

Deadly Class, based on the Image Comics graphic novel of the same name by Rick Remender and Wesley Craig, starred Lana Condor, Benjamin Wadsworth and Benedict Wong. It followed an orphan who becomes a student assassin at King’s Dominion High School for the Deadly Arts. Avengers: Endgame helmers Joe and Anthony Russo served as executive producers.

The two dramas join Nightflyers, Channel Zero and Killjoys, also recently canceled by the NBC Universal-owned cable network.
