Steve Carell was basically just called in for a disciplinary hearing.

The Beautiful Boy actor hosted Saturday Night Live this past weekend and decided to field questions from the audience during his opening monologue.

One of them inquired whether The Office would have a much-desired reboot, allowing the 56-year-old to reprise his most famous role as Michael Scott.

Steve’s answer was a crushing blow to fans of the series as he said, “Actually, I don’t think so, it was a great experience and I love all these people but I just don’t think it’s the best idea. I think maybe we should just leave it alone.”

But before they even had time to wipe their collective tears, Steve’s former “colleagues” appeared on stage to set him straight.

“People would really love to see an Office reboot,” said Ellie Kemper, who played receptionist Erin Hannon “‘Cause I need that money. Let’s get that money, Steve!”

She was backed up by Ed Helms (AKA Andy Bernard) who said, “I just don’t think you understand just how much money we’re talking about. Like, you wouldn’t have to do all those sad movies anymore.”

Finally, Jenna Fischer — better known as Pam Beesley — told the SNL host: “Steve, do you remember the last words that Pam secretly whispered to Michael as she left for Denver? She said, ‘Steve, don’t be a dick, do the reboot.’”

You know what to do, Steve…

Steve Carell may be more accustomed to the big screen lately, but that doesn’t mean he has left the small screen behind.

The Academy Award-nominated actor was last seen on TV 8 years ago as Michael Scott in The Office, a role he played for 9 years.

Unfortunately for fans of the comedy based on the British series of the same name, Steve is not returning to screens in a reboot of The Office.

Instead, he has signed on for a lead role in an untitled drama series from Apple which will star and be executively produced by his Bruce Almighty co-star Jennifer Aniston, and Big Little Lies actress Reese Witherspoon.

Steve will play a character named Mitch Kessler who is a morning show anchor that is struggling to maintain relevance in a changing media landscape.

Apple has already given a two-season, 20-episode order to the series which debuts in 2019.
