The two untitled Spider-Man sequels were pushed back by Sony Pictures for several months as Hollywood studios are still trying to fix their release schedules due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Sony Pictures announced on Friday that Marvel-Sony’s Spider-Man Far From Home sequel would be moved from July 16, 2021, to November 5, 2021. Sony Pictures Animation’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel was also delayed by six months from April 8, 2022, to October 7, 2022.

Spider-Man Far From Home, starring Tom Holland was one of 2019’s most successful films, grossing $1.13 billion in box offices worldwide. The untitled film will be the third installment in the franchise, which began with 2017’s Spider-Man Homecoming.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse won last year’s Academy Award for the best-animated movie, grossing $375 million worldwide.

Tom Holland is the hero we deserve — and he’s the one we have!

Lovers of Spider-Man received good news last month after Sony and Marvel decided to put aside their differences for the good of the fans and create a third film in the franchise.

The rights to the web-slinger are owned by Sony, but the two companies agreed to collaborate, allowing the character to appear in The Avengers flicks. Then, in August, it was announced that the deal had come to an end due to a disagreement over profit sharing.

So what changed, allowing Spidey to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

It turns out, Tom Holland stepped up as a real-life superhero.

During an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that he had received a personal call from the actor who plays Peter Parker, asking him to fix the situation.

“We spoke, and he basically made a — he cried on the phone,” Iger laughed. “It was clear that he cared so much, and actually, we care a lot about him. So, after I got off the phone with him, I made a couple of phone calls to our team at Disney Studios, and then I decided to call the head of Sony. I said, ‘We got to figure out a way to get this done, for Tom and for the fans.’ And we did.”

He did it, Mr. Stark!

It’s all gonna be okay, Spider-Man fans!

Last month, Peter Parker was pulled out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe after it appeared that a deal could not he reached between Sony Pictures, which owns the rights to the web-slinger, and Marvel boss, Kevin Feige.

But, sanity has prevailed, and Spidey can once again be a part of The Avenger thanks to a new deal which has been reached.

“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it,” Feige said in a statement. “Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”

The deal now paves the way for a third film starring Tom Holland as the teen superhero.

Avengers director Joe Russo is disappointed that Sony has cut Spider-Man from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Joe Russo co-directed Avengers: Endgame with his brother, Anthony. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man stepped in last-minute to help save the day and then returned in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

The Russo brothers admitted that it was difficult to find a way for Sony and MCU to work together and incorporate Holland into the Avengers. Unfortunately, the collaboration recently came to end and Sony came to the decision to cut Spider-Man from the MCU.

Speaking with the Toronto Sun, Russo described this decision as a “tragic mistake.”

“We had a great run with [Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige] on Spider-Man movies. We tried to see if there’s a way to work it out…. the Marvel people are terrific people, we have great respect for them, but on the other hand we have some pretty terrific people of our own. Kevin didn’t do all the work,” he said.

He added: “For the moment the door is closed.”

All good things come to an end, and the head of Marvel Studios knows just that.

It was announced last week that Spider-Man and Marvel would be parting ways after a profit-sharing structure could not be agreed upon with Sony Pictures.

“It was a dream that I never thought would happen,” said Marvel Studios head, Kevin Feige. “It was never meant to last forever. We knew there was a finite amount of time that we’d be able to do this, and we told the story we wanted to tell, and I’ll always be thankful for that.”

Although it is sad that Spidey will no longer get to swing around with The Avengers, the actor behind Peter Parker, Tom Holland, is choosing to remain positive.

“Basically, we’ve made five great movies,” he told Entertainment Weekly “It’s been five amazing years. I’ve had the time of my life. Who knows what the future holds? But all I know is that I’m going to continue playing Spider-Man and having the time of my life. It’s going to be so fun, however we choose to do it. The future for Spider-Man will be different, but it will be equally as awesome and amazing, and we’ll find new ways to make it even cooler.”

At least Marvel won’t have to worry about all those leaked spoilers anymore…

In case you haven’t heard, Spider-Man is swinging out of the Marvel Universe.

Sony Pictures announced on Tuesday that it would be parting ways with Marvel Studios over the profit-sharing structure.

“Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterized recent discussions about [Marvel President] Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise,” Sony said in a statement.

“We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live action Spider-Man film. We hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him – including all their newly added Marvel properties – do not allow time for him to work on IP they do not own. Kevin is terrific and we are grateful for his help and guidance and appreciate the path he has helped put us on, which we will continue.”

Many fans were devastated by the news, though one did inquire whether that now opened up the possibility of Spidey finally starring with Deadpool, who is also not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Sadly, Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds responded saying, “You can. But you can only see it in my heart.”

And just like that, our hearts broke all over again.

Spider-Man best start working on spinning himself a web wall…

That’s because one of his arch rivals is getting his own film.

Peter Parker’s nemeses have already come to life in solo ventures such as Venom which was released last year and is gearing up for a sequel, once again starring Tom Hardy as the titular character.

Now another of Spidey’s enemies is set to get his own origin story — Morbius.

First appearing in The Amazing Spider-Man #101 in 1971, Morbius was a scientist who tried to cure himself of a blood disease, but became afflicted with vampiric traits such as fangs and a thirst for blood.

Director of Safe House, Daniel Espinosa, will helm the movie, with Suicide Squad actor Jared Leto already signed on to star. He will now be joined by Matt Smith of The Crown in an unconfirmed — yet major — role.

Production on Morbius begins in February.

The American comic book illustrator was the co-creator of Spider-Man and was responsible for thinking up Spidey’s suit, as well as his wall-climbing abilities.

The artist passed away this week in his New York home at the age of 90.

Spider-Man: Homecoming actor, Tom Holland, has now paid tribute to the late nonagenarian.

“We all want to leave our mark on the world — this guy crushed it. He made so many people so happy and changed lives — most of all, mine! Thank you Steve — your life lives on man, thank you,” wrote the 22-year-old.

Tribute was also paid to Ditko by Marvel:

The illustrator’s cause of death has been attributed to a heart attack.

He never married during his lifetime and did not have any children.

The trailer features Hardy’s voiceover as we hear him saying, Everyone’s got their thing. Maybe it’s a breakup, a death, an accident…whatever it is, you used to be one thing. Now, you’re something else. We all have our own problems, our own issues, our own…demons.” When he says something else, he talks about a Brooklyn-based supervillain.

We first saw Venom/Eddie Brock in Spider-Man comics back in the ’80s. The initial idea was for Spider-Man to receive a new black alien suit during the Secret Wars series. It would affect him and almost turn him into a villain, but it eventually ends up belonging to the corrupt photographer Eddie Brock, creating Venom.

Since first springing onto the scene in 1962, Spider-Man has always been, well, a man.

But that seems about to change.

Sony Pictures has been planning to expand its web that is the Spidey universe and it seems to have caught a woman in its gossamer.

The studio has announced that it will be developing an animated film starring a superhero known as Spider-Woman.

The flick, written by Bek Smith of Zoo, will feature 3 generations of women all with Spidey powers.

It is possible that one of the characters could be Spider-Gwen.

The film will form part of the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse venture which features the voices of Hailee Steinfeld, Mahershala Ali, Jake Johnson, Liev Schreiber, and Lily Tomlin, and is set for release on the 14th of December.

Our Spidey senses are already tingling!

Tom Holland would arguably be without a job if not for Steve Ditko.

The first spin-off movie created by Sony in Marvel universe, Venom, will premiere on October 5, 2018. The teaser trailer is available below.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer, Venom stars Tom Hardy, Riz Ahmed and Michelle Williams.

Check out the trailer.
