This album will serve as a follow-up to her 2015 record, Revival. The singer’s fans often wondered why she kept them waiting for so long for her new music, but she feels that the timing couldn’t have been better.

“It’s actually perfect timing because I was going to release it two years ago and none of the words that I’m speaking would have existed. So taking a moment to actually feel the feelings that I’ve gone through it’s just, I don’t know, I’m just so grateful that it’s out,” said Gomez during an interview with Ryan Seacrest.

The “It Ain’t Me” singer released two new songs recently, both of which were inspired by her past relationship with fellow singer, Justin Bieber. 

While Selena has been featured on several songs, the last time she released her own new music was in 2017.

“This song was inspired by many things that have happened in my life since releasing my last album,” she said of the first single “Lose You to Love Me.” “I thought it was important to share the music, as I know many can relate to the fact that the road to self-discovery generally comes through the scars in one’s life. I want people to feel hope and to know you will come out the other side stronger and a better version of yourself.”

Just a day later, Selena shared another new song, along with a music video. 

Sophie Müller directed the video for “Look At Her Now” which was co-written by Selena, Julia Michaels, Justin Tranter, and Ian Kirkpatrick. 

“I felt having these two songs released back to back completed the story of how one can rise no matter what challenges life brings,” Selena said. “Turning off the noise and living your life on your terms.”

Netflix dropped Tuesday the first teaser trailer for its Selena Gomez-produced docuseries. The series is co-directed by Aaron Saidman and Anna Chai. Eli Holzman and Saidman executive produce. 

Living Undocumented, a series which follows eight undocumented families who took the extraordinary risk of allowing film crews to chronicle their lives as they faced potential deportation.

“I chose to produce this series, Living Undocumented, because over the past few years, the word immigrant has seemingly become a negative word,” said Gomez. “My hope is that the series can shed light on what it’s like to live in this country as an undocumented immigrant firsthand, from the courageous people who have chosen to share their stories.”

Living Undocumented drops on Netflix on October 2.
