The movie, which will premiere on July 24th, 2020, has a complicated plot.

“[It’s about an] American journalist based in France [who] creates his magazine. It is more a portrait of this man, of this journalist who fights to write what he wants to write. It’s not a movie about freedom of the press, but when you talk about reporters you also talk about what’s going on in the real world,” Anderson said.

The film’s release date hints at a possible premiere at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival – a festival that Anderson has not participated in since 2012’s Moonrise Kingdom.  His last two films debuted at the Berlin Film Festival.

We’re more than a little excited for the remake of Little Women.

Greta Gerwig is bringing to life the latest adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s famous work, with a cast hot enough to burn those pages.

The eighth version of the 1868 novel is set to star Meryl Streep, Saoirse Ronan, Timothée Chalamet, Laura Dern, Emma Watson, and Chris Cooper, among others.

The film will be set in the original time period which Alcott intended — the 1860s — and focus on the lives of the March sisters while jumping between timelines.

“This feels like autobiography,” Gerwig told Vanity Fair of her second directorial project. “When you live through a book, it almost becomes the landscape of your inner life…. It becomes part of you, in a profound way.”

The first official photos from the feature have now been released, showing Ronan, Watson, Chalamet, Streep, and Dern on set.

Little Women is due to be released on December 25th.

Saoirse Ronan is arguably one of the greatest actresses of our generation, but the Irish actress has said that she was lucky to get her roles.

First arriving on the scene as a 13-year-old in Atonement, the now 24-year-old has been nominated for 3 Academy Awards.

But, as she told The Guardian, parts have not always been easy to come by.

“There are more films being made now about girls and women, but even six years ago, people didn’t know what to do with an older teenage girl who was about to go into her 20s,” says the actress who will next be seen as the lead in Mary Queen of Scots.

“No scripts were being written about that experience, which I find mad, because so much has happened to me in the past few years. I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to write about that. But yes, I’d been told by older actors: you’re grand now, but when you get to 18 there won’t be anything – and there wasn’t. There was nothing. I was lucky The Grand Budapest Hotel came along, but mostly it was just the girlfriend, the neighbour, the sister: characters that are not fleshed out. So when they asked if I wanted to play a Scottish queen… it was brilliant.”

And brilliant, she is!

Wes Anderson is rounding up the gang.

Like many directors (hey, Christopher Nolan and Tim Burton!), The Grand Budapest Hotel filmmaker likes to work with certain actors, meaning they often find themselves cast in many of his movies.

These stars include Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, and Tilda Swinton who have all appeared in a combination of The Grand Budapest Hotel, Moonlight Kingdom, and The Isle of Dogs.

The trio will once again be working with the director on his forthcoming film The French Dispatch, and will also be joined by another former collaborator — Saoirse Ronan.

The film has been described as a “love letter to journalists set at an outpost of an American newspaper in 20th-century Paris” and includes three different storylines.

Timothée Chalamet — who has worked with Saoirse Ronan twice before — is also part of the cast, along with Benicio Del Toro and Jefferey Wright.
