]]>But Roseanne Barr won’t be one of them.
The series is a spin-off of Roseanne which returned to screens last year as part of a revival but was canceled in May as a result of racist tweets made by the comedienne.
So where will the 65-year-old be heading to when her on-screen family of John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, and Sara Gilbert return without her?
Roseanne appeared as a guest on the Rabbi Shmuley Boteach Podcast where she revealed that Israel is her destination of choice.
“I’m staying away from [the show]. I have an opportunity to go to Israel for a few months and study with my favorite teachers over there, and that’s where I’m going to go and probably move somewhere there and study with my favorite teachers. I have saved a few pennies and I’m so lucky I can go,” she said. “It’s my great joy and privilege to be a Jewish woman.”
We guess we should wish her mazeltov!

]]>Just a few weeks after ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey canceled the reboot following a racist tweet written by Roseanne Barr, the network confirmed Thursday that a new spinoff is in the works.
Here’s the official logline for The Conners: “After a sudden turn of events, the Conners are forced to face the daily struggles of life in Lanford in a way they never have before. This iconic family – Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky and D.J. – grapples with parenthood, dating, an unexpected pregnancy, financial pressures, aging, and in-laws in working-class America. Through it all, the fights, the coupon cutting, the hand-me-downs, the breakdowns – with love, humor and perseverance, the family prevails.”
The new series will star John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson and Michael Fishman, who released a joint statement following the news of the development of the new series:
“We have received a tremendous amount of support from fans of our show, and it’s clear that these characters not only have a place in our hearts but in the hearts and homes of our audience. We all came back last season because we wanted to tell stories about the challenges facing a working-class family today. We are so happy to have the opportunity to return with the cast and crew to continue to share those stories through love and laughter.”
Executive producer Tom Werner released a statement as well confirming that he has reached an agreement with Barr for Werner Entertainment to producer another spinoff without “further creative or financial participation” from Barr.
The Conners will join ABC’s lineup this fall.

]]>After ABC announced that Roseanne has been canceled following an offensive tweet written by the show’s lead, Roseanne Barr, sources say that the execs at ABC are looking to re-brand the show.
TMZ reports that the Roseanne reboot may be rebooted for the second time. The new revival will, however, be centered on Sara Gilbert’s character, Darlene, Roseanne’s unemployed daughter, who is a single mom.
Gilbert who was one of the persons leading the revival took to Twitter to stand against the comment made by her co-star.
Roseanne’s recent comments about Valerie Jarrett, and so much more, are abhorrent and do not reflect the beliefs of our cast and crew or anyone associated with our show. I am disappointed in her actions to say the least.

Gilbert has reportedly called several cast members to gauge their interest in the event ABC gives the reboot the green light. TMZ reports that John Goodman is “very interested.”
ABC and Gilbert’s reps have not responded to requests for comment.

]]>The revival of the ’90s series premiered last week, with original cast mates, Roseanne Barr, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, and Sara Gilbert all returning for the show’s 10th season.
18.2 million people tuned in for the two-part premiere on Tuesday night, making it ABC’s most-watched scripted series since 2008. In the days that have followed, viewership has increased by more than 3.4 million.
The network has obviously recognized a good thing when it knocks them upside the head, prompting its decision to renew Roseanne for a second season — way before it even finished its first!
“We’re thrilled that America has welcomed the Conner family back into their homes. The show is as fresh and relevant today as it was when it left the air 21 years ago. We can’t wait to see what the Roseanne team has in store for next year,” ABC Entertainment President, Channing Dungey, said in the announcement.

Someone else who has now come forward, remarking on the Oscar winner’s rambunctious reputation, is Roseanne Barr.
The pair worked together on the first season of Roseanne in 1988 when George played Booker Brooks.
Whilst giving an interview on the Howard Stern Sirius XM Show ahead Roseanne’s revival, the lead actress revealed that the ABC network had sent the cast a chocolate bar in the shape of a number one when the show reached the top of the ratings.
Knowing that other shows had received better gifts to celebrate, George suggested “let’s go out, and I’ll throw it … and you hit it with a bat and then we’ll send the picture to the president of the network,” according to Miss Barr.
