It has been confirmed that Madonna will be performing at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest next month.

Israel will be hosting the 2019 event, which has been described as the musical Olympics. Countries throughout Europe (plus Australia) send a singer or group to represent them, with fellow countries bestowing points. The winning country then hosts the following year’s Eurovision.

The week-long festivities often include many parties, much color, and fun fare as fans from around the world descend on the host nation.

Israel — and Tel Aviv in particular — will have the honors this year after its representative, Netta Barzilai, was crowned the winner of last year’s contest, thanks to her song “Toy.”

The European Broadcasting Union has now confirmed that the Queen of Pop will perform two songs at the event — one well-known and one that is new.

The “Vogue” singer’s performance will reportedly cost $1 million, with American billionaire Sylvan Adams footing the bill.

Madonna will strike a pose on the Eurovision stage during the finale on the 18th of May.

Twitter has not been kind to the 60-year-old this week, so she has now taken to social media to defend herself.

At the MTV Video Music Awards which took place on Monday night, the Queen of Pop paid tribute to the recently deceased Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin.

At least that’s what we thought was happening…

But, Madge has now set the record straight.

In response to many who claimed that her “tribute” was self-indulgent and only briefly made mention of Aretha whilst detailing a story of how she had performed A Natural Woman during an audition, Madonna declared the following:

“Just to clarify,” she wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of Havana singer, Camila Cabello. “I was asked to present video of the year by MTV! And then they asked me to share any anecdotes I had in my career connected to Aretha Franklin! I shared a part of my journey and thanked Aretha for inspiring me along the way. I did not intend to do a tribute to her! That would be impossible in 2 minutes with all the noise and tinsel of an award show. I could never do her justice in this context or environment.”

So, papa, don’t preach.

The list of musicians who have featured on the group’s songs includes Jess Glynn who lent her vocals to Rather Be, Anne-Marie who can be heard on Rockabye, and most recently, Demi Lovato on Solo.

Their latest single even inspired an Instagram video by Madonna where she lip-synced to the track in honor of Pride Month.

The clip caught the attention of Clean Bandit with band member Jack Patterson telling The Sun: “We couldn’t believe that. We’re big fans. We’d love to work with her… if she’s reading this.”

We think it would make a fantastic symphony!

The Avengers: Infinity War actor may come across as cool, calm, and collected, but that doesn’t mean he won’t freak out like the rest of us when meeting a celebrity icon.

During an interview on The Graham Norton Show, the 21-year-old relayed the time he met Madonna (yes, that Madonna), calling it “one of the most embarrassing experiences.”

While at an after party following the Oscars, where Tom had presenting duty, a friend of his asked if he had previously met the “Burning Up” singer, who was also at the shindig.

“An old friend of mine who’s a manager comes up to me and is like, ‘Tom! Tom! Do you know Madonna?’ And I’m like, ‘Funny enough, no.’ So, he drags me across this nightclub and introduces me to Madonna.”

So far, so good. Until…

“[My friend] can see me panicking and goes, ‘Madonna, Tom is an incredible dancer.’ She goes, ‘Really? That’s something I’d love to see — show me!’ So, I take her hand and drag her out onto the dance floor and as soon as I took her I realized it was a mistake… I start dancing with her and — there’s not much arms involved, I’m just doing a little two-step to try to warm myself up — and she’s so unimpressed… I just bailed and left. I just leave Madonna on the dance floor.”

Oh, Tom, we’re cringing for you.
