]]>Jane the Virgin is wrapping up this year after being on air for 5 seasons.
While it was originally hoped that the telenovela would continue in the form of a spin-off, the series was not picked up by The CW.
Entitled Jane the Telenovela, the show would focus on the characters in Jane’s novel and be narrated by Gina Rodriguez.
The reason it wasn’t ordered to series, according to CW President Mark Pedowitz, is that it “did not have what Jane had. It didn’t have the full quirkiness and fun. We are big fans of [show creator] Jennie Urman and Gina, and we have great appreciation for what they did. In this particular situation, this spinoff didn’t quite get to where we wanted it to get to.”
But Pedowitz is not ruling out a return in the future…
“We’ve reached out to Jennie and said if she wishes, we’re interested in pursuing a potential other spinoff for Jane. It is in Jennie’s court.”
Let’s hold thumbs.

]]>The CW dramedy is coming to an end in July after 5 years on our screens, but there was hope we would not be saying goodbye to Jane forever.
An anthology spin-off had been proposed, which planned to focus on a character from Jane’s novel, which would be narrated by Gina Rodriguez.
However, The CW has now chosen not to pick up Jane the Novela, meaning we will definitely be saying goodbye to the Villanuevas on 31st of July…
The network did decide to order full seasons for Batwoman, Katy Keene, and Nancy Drew.
Ruby Rose will take on the DC character, while Kennedy McCann will portray the famous literary private investigator.
Katy Keene is set to be the second spin-off from Riverdale following The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
The 2019/2020 TV season is looking promising!

]]>On screen, Gina Rodriguez and Justin Baldoni play parents to Mateo Rogelio Villanueva Solano, but in real life they’re just a bunch of kids themselves.
The Jane the Virgin stars recorded themselves singing along to the Pinkfong hit Baby Shark whilst in the car.
Justin, who plays Rafael, is behind the wheel, while Jane herself, Gina, dances along to the infectious song with a combination of gangster signs and disco moves.
The children’s track — which has become the bane of some parents’ lives — tells the story of a baby, mommy, daddy, grandma, and grandpa shark, with Justin and Gina filling their roles perfectly.
The clip is only 38 seconds long, which means we don’t get to see the entire performance of the song, but we hope Mateo enjoyed the full version!

]]>Fans of several CW shows are breathing a collective sigh of relief after they were officially renewed for another season.
10 series have been given a nod of approval by the network, including Riverdale, Arrow, Jane the Virgin and Supernatural.
The Winchester brothers will be returning to our screens for a 14th season (who knew there were even any ghouls left to vanquish?), while Jane the Virgin star, Gina Rodriguez hinted last month that the upcoming 5th season may well be its last.
Also heading towards its end? Crazy Ex-Girlfriend which was picked up for the 4th season.
“Just turned on my wifi on our flight to Chicago and found out that #CrazyExGirlfriend has been renewed for a final season,” tweeted star Rachel Bloom.

Joining the list of renewed shows are The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow and newcomers, Dynasty and Black Lightning, both of which will be premiering their sophomore seasons.
“We are proud to have such a deep bench of great returning series for 2018-19,” says CW President, Mark Pedowitz. “By picking these ten series up for next season, we have a terrific selection of programming to choose from when we set our fall schedule in May, with more still to come.”
