]]>This shocking announcement comes shortly after Cavill decided to return as Superman in the DCU. The British actor said that his journey on this show was filled with both monsters and adventures, adding that he’s enthusiastic to see Hemsworth embody this fascinating and nuanced character.
Hemsworth said he’s over the moon to play Geralt of Rivia because he’s been The Witcher fan for years, and thanked Cavill for allowing him to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure.
“Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world,” said Hemsworth in a statement.
Cavill will bid his farewell when The Witcher returns for Season 3 on Netflix. Its release date is yet to be announced, but it will most likely premiere next summer.

]]>The new Netflix series premiered on Friday and is based on the book series of the same name by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski.
Set in a fantasy world with three timelines running concurrently, it can easily be confusing. Not to mention it contains a glossary of terms tailor-made for its own universe. But if fantastical creatures and evil humans are your thing, then The Witcher is well-worth pursuing, and its showrunner is confident that you don’t need any prior knowledge to jump into the Henry Cavill-led series.
“What was important to me is starting off and making sure that we understood who Geralt was and who Ciri was, and then, in episode 2, who Yennefer was,” said showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich about the move, which was made to make it easier for viewers, but deviates from the books.
“I think the people that haven’t read the books, that’ll actually be a lot easier for them to get into because they have the Yennefer and Ciri storylines, which are amazingly performed, from the get-go,” Cavill noted.
“With the Geralt storyline, it’s a slower burn. If you’ve read the books, then yes, you have the privilege of knowing the why, the what and the how. But with his storyline, it’s a slower burn and you discover him bit by bit, more and more over the season and through future seasons.”
Season 1 of The Witcher is currently on Netflix, with a second season having already been announced.

Legendary Entertainment has tapped Cavill to take on the iconic role of Sherlock Holmes in a new film.
Based on the Enola Holmes Mysteries novel series by Nancy Springer, the film will focus on the young female detective who is the sister of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes.
Despite being less well-known than her infamous brothers, Enola is quite capable in her investigative skills — even though she is only 14-years-old.
Millie Bobby Brown of Stranger Things is set to star and produce the film adaptation, which is being directed by Harry Bradbeer and written by Jack Thorne.
In addition to Cavill’s casting, Ocean’s Eight star Helena Bonham Carter is attached to play the trio’s mother.
There are currently six books in the Enola Holmes Mysteries series, with it not yet revealed which will inspire the big screen adaptation.

With Henry Cavill being cast as the lead in Netflix’s new series, The Witcher, speculation arose as to what would happen to the future of DC’s Superman films of which Henry is the star.
Well, it now appears as though we have our answer. The studio has decided not to make a stand-alone Superman movie for the next few years; switching focus to a Supergirl film as its priority instead, with 21 Jump Street writer, Oren Uziel, working on the screenplay.
An appearance by the Man of Steel in the upcoming Shazam! flick also fell through as a result of scheduling conflicts due to Henry’s starring in Mission: Impossible — Fallout.
As a result, it looks as though the 35-year-old will be hanging up his cape.
Reports have also claimed that Black Panther star, Michael B. Jordan, could be taking on the role of Clark Kent in the future.

The 35-year-old will play Geralt of Rivia who is mutant monster hunter, dealing with slavering abominations, political machinations, and manipulative Sorceresses.
Henry revealed recently that he had also been playing The Witcher video game, of which he said: “Love that game. Really good game.”
The project was announced in May 2017, with showrunner, Lauren Hissrich, saying Henry showed enormous passion.

And while fans of the 34-year-old probably had a mini meltdown, Henry himself has taken it in his stride.
The man with the infamous mustache posted a picture of himself looking rather alarmed on Instagram, along with the caption, “When you learn that you died 2 days ago…”
The Wikipedia page has now been re-edited to portray the facts — though it doesn’t include any mention of the incident (maybe a little too meta?)
Either way, we imagine that Lex Luther must be so disappointed to discover he’s alive and well…
